Hello armor gamers, and welcome to the *official* GFX Battle thread!

GFX is short for Graphics, this thread was made so that other members can partake in art contests. Here is how it will work:

I) A moderator will choose a theme and a finishing date.
II) Members who choose to partake in this event will make make artwork that fits the chosen theme.
III) After the contest is over, a moderator/moderators will overlook all submissions and choose a winner.
IX) The winner will be granted 25 Armor Points

Everyone can partake in this event no matter what programs they have, or do not have. Some may have nothing but MSpaint. That is ok! Remember that all submissions will be reviewed. Everyone has an even chance for winning.

*GUIDELINES*
I) Stick to the theme given
II) Posts in this thread must be related to the event.
III) The maximum size for a submission is 600x600, i recommend trying to make all submissions at 450x200.
IX) All entries must be in before the given date.
X) All images used in an images must not be copyrighted! If a submission is indeed copyrighted, it will be rejected, and the submitter will have to face moderation :P

Let the battles begin :P

Carlie if you drawed the image by hand how would you get it up on the computer?

Well I'm not really an artist of any kind so I'm sure if we were to both add in backgrounds to our drawings that you would probably win.

Anyways I would think all you would have to do is make a new drawing that isn't copyrighted, and it should be fine. That's what I did, when you got guys got after me.

I think perhaps this is too easy?

She said that i lied and had my friend render the image. I assure my when i said my "friend" i was referring to the pentool. But w/e.

I said that because you said it was from your site, an artists rendition.

all there images were once copyrighted. But now that they are rendered, they are not. So it isn't a legal thing, it is just a legit rule i should have never mentioned.

You REALLY need to brush up on your copyright laws.

The best way to do it and retain quality, would be to scan it in.

Guys, i use renders for art. If i can't use renders, then w/e i just won't enter.

And i'm not really arguing. I'm just perturbed because my own rule bit me in the arse.

No hard feelings to Carlie or anyone here. It is just hard when we have this rule O_o but i made it :P

So Carlie...music ...

If you can't trace the origin back to a copyrighted image then i'm fine ^_^

click

You cannot find the source, therefore AG nor i can get into trouble for using them.

So, anything in planetrenders or my sites gallery is legit then?

Ack! The only place I can use a scanner would be at my mom's work which I don't see happening so...

Hmmm... I mean it is possible to take a good picture with a camera, and then to upload that. But I think it would be pretty hard to do that and still have good quality.

Rendered images are not exempt from copyright law. Rendering is a method; a way of manipulating one piece of data into another. By Fair-Use law any piece of work used in another work without permission from the original copyright holder is subject to copyright law where applicable, more specifically under the DMCA.

Also, any work not entered directly into the US Library of Congress is also subject to automatic copyright once published. So even if the bearer does not own a direct copyright it may still be protected but not as unquestionable primary evidence.

What you are arguing is encapsulation, which is a body of work placed in another body of work in order to create something different. Sadly, this does not fall under fair use. I can't make a mixtape and sell it in a store, and the same goes for this situation.

But i have no intention of redistributing this piece? For that matter any pieces! They are just for this competition only.

I think Tony just about covered it all,so I don't think there is really any intelligent way for Arax to argue against it.I think it would be best to just make something new,and original like you usually do.(That is what you usually do right?)

Apparently I was wrong, but Arax you are still try to gain something from using someone else's work,so it still won't work.

You just distributed it by posting it on this site.

The fact is, your submission is not valid, it is disqualified. There is no further reason to discuss this. The decision is final, and the rules are not changing.

This petty argument has clogged up this thread too much already. If you have further issues with this, do not post them here.

Oh god, the arguments!
Well, I 'm fortunate enough to trust my own drawing skills, so here we go.

My official entry for the music theme:
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z121/Mazzelh/musicmazzelhcopy.jpg

Also, a link for the inks (which weren't drawn digitally): INKS, and a link for the full resolution of the final image (had to crop it to meet the sizes of the contest): FULL RES.

That would also count for my RAWRpod too wouldn't it?

Well you drew the RAWRpod yourself right? Also who is to say it is a Ipod. They can't prove it.The point is that things like that have been used in flash video's before so I would think there wouldn't be too much of a problem with it.Also I think if it did that Carlie would have already said something about it.
