I am a christian, i and i strongly belive in my lord jesus christ, and i also belive that if you belive in him and except him as your savior, u will go to heaven. and i also believe that he created the world, not the big bang, or that we came from stupid apes.

That is one of the issues I have with macroevolution, where we come to the question: If a species is defined by not being able to interbreed with its ancestor, how is the first individual of a newly evolved species capable of passing its genes on?

Because evolution is not as point and click as spore is. Evolution is a very slow process that allows a lot of room for error, hence the strong survive. However, Darwin actually believed not in the strong survive, but that the ones most responsive to change. That is why humans survive when saber-tooth tigers did not. So really, humans for example, are actually evolving before our eyes, it's just too slow to see. However, many things go into evolution, not just change. We are far more evolved than the Romans were, except not physically, but mentally. As there was no need to get bigger, due to civilization, we evolved mentally, getting smarter and smarter. Another thing that contributes to evolution is accidental discovery. That is why instead of using and improving swords, we are using and improving firearms.

If I'm not mistaken, evolution doesn't deal with the first of a species- so that argument is irrelevant. I'm not entirely sure though.

The only real ground Christians have for the Apes thing is the missing link, everything adds up! We have found more and more evidence that we evolved from primitive humans, apes maybe, the missing link is the apes and the extremely primitive humans, and we have found more evidence connecting the two.

In that above paragraph you have probably noticed I'm an atheist.

About the big bang. Well, I don't know much about it. But I find it to be a bit believable, more so than God.

I don't hate muslims, but they put religion before politics, which is kind of scary if your not following Communism or Dictatorship.

I also don't hate Christians an Catholics, at times I do. But in general if you mention a Christian to me, I won't really care. But if I get into a argument, it's usually me overpowering there argument. I would rule in a debate team.

I have said this to a much greater depth in hundreds of previous topics and I don't really want to explain what I mean again. Thank you for your time, good day to you all.

guys,i`m christian, but in my opinion, these threads are wrong, people start arguing over who is right, then it becomes hatred for each other.does it really matter how the world started? no use wondering that now, because the world is already made.

People are capable of rational discussion without hating the person with the opposing point of view.

Does it really matter?

Ultimately no, but then I'd say in the long run not much matters at all. This is however, a forum for discussion, and if we're not going to discuss, it may as well not exist.

"I'm not sure of the issue you are presenting. Is this supposed to just be like a throwdown or something?"

I agree. When you title a debate Christianity vs. Atheism, you are pissing off a lot of non-Christians whom also believe in some sort of god. I am all for believing in whatever you want to believe. But Christians are one of the few religions that tell me consistantly that I am going to Hell because I don't believe what they believe.

Christians are bullies of the religious world. They aim to eliminate truth and non believers. They took a wonderful concept that Jesus followed (Jesus was Jewish by the way) and turned it into genocide of all non believers.

Thanks Constintine!

Wow, you seem to judge Christians by the crazy ones in the news and the really old Dark Ages ones. I think that's a pretty unfair generalization perpetuated by the ones that are in the news all the time. We haven't started a war as an entire religion in a long time. That's kind of like sating all Muslims are terrorists.

I'm Christian and I've never told anyone that they were going to hell. I have told a few to go to hell, but that's neither here nor there. To be fair though, most Atheists have called me a moron for being Christian and I don't even try to convert people or Bible thump.

Point taken quakingphear. Allow me to restate that not all people of a certain group are whackos. Not everybody is right and not everyone is wrong. But there are a lot of gray areas in these kinda debates.

That being said, it's not the news that I get my information from, it's history. I am Jewish and I can tell you that we are one of few cultures that have consistantly been crapped on by Christians. A major source of our history was lost due to Constatine, the Inquisition, and WW2 (just to name a few). Christianity's craziness goes Waaaaaaay past the Dark Ages.

Are all Christians bad? No.
Are all Jews great? No.
Are we all screwed? Probably.

Oh, and if you don't think Christians haven't started a war in a long time, then look at how the Right Wing is attacking Obama now. Or how we handled 9-11. Or the entire George W. Bush term.

But as a front, I would never call you a moron for your beliefs. And I don't expect you to be a bible thumper just because you are Christian. But these people (on BOTH sides) do exist.
