I am a christian, i and i strongly belive in my lord jesus christ, and i also belive that if you belive in him and except him as your savior, u will go to heaven. and i also believe that he created the world, not the big bang, or that we came from stupid apes.
ugg...Armorgames needs a post editing option. I was just going to say that if there is a group that claims it is a Christian group, but the members go around killing people, they are either misinterpreting the Bible, not true Christians at all, or they are trying to make Christianity uninviting to non-Christians.
Most atheist ignore their conscience and do whatever they want.
How can you maske such a broad claim with no evidence whatsoever?
What have you done in response to your conscience? Did you choose to follow your brother's example?
No. I chose wsomething I wanted to do. Have you done years of charity work? Didn't think so. So don't lecture me with that holier than thou attitude. This argument is completely ridiculous. You are basing it all on 'most atheists are selfish' without anything to back that up.
Let me restate my definition: a belief (or set of beliefs) that forms ones world-views. Is Communism a belief? I think it is. It is based on the belief that humans are naturally good, which is wrong. Can you give me an example of a pure Communist government or an intentional socialist community that has thrived better than the US, which has a government that was built on Christianity and capitalism? The reason capitalism works so well, is because it understands that people are selfish. Communism requires that everything belongs to the government, and that the government then distributes what it has evenly among its citizens. A person who works twice as hard as another will get the same amount as the other person. Capitalism rewards hard work by giving an individual earnings in relation to what that person did. What would you rather have? Capitalism obviously. Who would want to work twice as hard as the next person for no particular reason? There you are then, proof from yourself that humans are selfish.
If there are churches for Christianity, why can't atheists have them too? Why can atheists force their ideas on everybody by teaching it in schools? Hmm? You know that there is something about Christianity that makes it thrive, even when oppressed, so you atheists try to force it out of the ring. Why not keep to your own beliefs to yourselves? You have no reason to push it on others. Let others become Christians if they want. If death is just death like you say, then why does it matter if people are Christians or not? If the whole world was Christian, but there is no afterlife, why does it matter? It is a win-win situation for Christians. If I believe that Jesus died for my sins, that all have sinned and need a Savior, and that is the truth, I go to heaven when I die, but if it is false, I suffer the same fate as somebody who does not believe. Since no one can definitely prove it either way, it is better off to be a Christian. If you really want to choose to live life your own way, there is no reason why you have to make others do the same.
I think your brother has found one of the great Christian truths on his own. He is sacrificing himself so that others may have a better life. Have you heard the phrase âgiving is better than receiving?â To know that you have made somebody else happy is one of the best feelings in the world. Try it sometime. Go and give somebody something wholeheartedly. Do it for their benefit. This is the true meaning of love. True love will always make you a better person, and others will love you back for it. The movie âIt's a Wonderful Lifeâ illustrates this well. Instead of living life your way, live it for others, and you will find that it reflects back to you. As a Christian, I try to love others, because God love me. All my life, I have done "charity" work. I always give at least 10% of the money God has given me back to Him so that it can be used to help others. He loves all people, no matter what, with infinite love. God does not have to tell me to do anything. I am simple so overwhelmed with His Grace, His Mercy, His Love, that I cannot contain it to myself. I must tell everyone I can about Him. I am sorry I can only be a fuzzy reflection of that. I hope you all will some of it in me someday.
Sighhhh... Evolution is one of the most overrated arguments against Christianity. All evolution argues is that instead of everything being created at once, it took billions of years. Scientifically earth shattering but philosophically extremely non-interesting.
It simply goes back to the simple statement that Religion is a set of morals for simple people to follow. If you have morals then you don't need Religion. There are a lot of people who don't have morals that I would strongly suggest they get some religion in them. Usually the smart people are Atheist as they don't need a higher power with a carrot and stick approach.
I was reading Aesop's fables the other day and I really liked this one. It explains why some men have no morals, and proves that there has always been evil in the world of man.
PROMETHEUS AND THE MAKING OF MAN
At the bidding of Jupiter, Prometheus set about the creation of Man and the other animals. Jupiter, seeing that Mankind, the only rational creatures, were far outnumbered by the irrational beasts, bade him redress the balance by turning some of the latter into men. Prometheus did as he was bidden, and this is the reason why some people have the forms of men but the souls of beasts.
sigh...I am sorry you feel that way about Christians. I hope you someday change you mind and see that God is only trying to help you. You could say, the rabbit is too stupid to follow the carrot on the stick and let itself be led away from trap. No hard feelings, please.
my main problems with religions is that many of the events have no evidence to prove they happened. I think religions are a great way to spread morals, but thats about as far as i will believe in them. L. Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer who created Scientology. Many people will disregard Scientology because Hubbard was a science fiction writer and likely made the whole thing up. So, why couldn't someone long ago do the same exact thing for christianity?
I'm not saying I don't keep an open mind to things, but before I will fully believe in anything, I need to have some tangible evidence of it.
every heard of George Muller? He and the hundreds of orphans he took care of lived solely on prayer. They told nobody about their needs, but trusted God, and everything that they needed came to them "by sheer coincidence." Read a biography on him. You would be amazed.
I'm not saying I don't keep an open mind to things, but before I will fully believe in anything, I need to have some tangible evidence of it.
You need to be more specific. tangible evidence of any god or God, or of Jesus's existence and divinity. Because if you don't believe that there is a God period then that's where the argument needs to start.

Generally most psychological studies disagree with this. Cultural differences are huge. Nearly all African cultures emphasise the good of the community over the individual. Most Arabic cultures are very collectivist in nature too. In pure communism there is no need for a state because there is no class conflict. People work and recieve resources according to their abilities and needs. They accept that everyone works at what they are best at/most suited for, yet recieve equal social and economic status. The population is meant to see the beauty in that.
why can't atheists have them too? Why can atheists force their ideas on everybody by teaching it in schools?
What is taught in schools is based on theories, not beliefs. Darwin himself was a Christian, he just didn't take the Bible literally. He belived creation was a slow miracle not a fast one. Evolution and Christianity are not completely incompatible. If you live your life true to all Christian teachings, but belive in Evolution, does this make you inferior to other Christains?
You have no reason to push it on others.
How can you say this and yet want Christianity to be taught in schools. That is completely hypocritical. In America about half the population belives in Evolution and half belives in Creationism. By teaching only the Creationsit point of view you would be pushing your beliefs on the other 50%.
If death is just death like you say, then why does it matter if people are Christians or not? If the whole world was Christian, but there is no afterlife, why does it matter? It is a win-win situation for Christians.
Sounds like Pascal's Wager to me. It also seems like a pretty shallow reason to be Christian. If God is omniscient then he would know it was not true faith that lead people to believe.
There are many groups of Christianity that belive that all people who live morally 'good' lives go to heaven regardless of if they are Christian or not. It depends what variation you belive in. Christianity is a broad spectrum.
I always give at least 10% of the money God has given me
Hmm that's funny I always thought it was my employer he gave me my pay cheque.
Scientifically earth shattering but philosophically extremely non-interesting.
Just because it might not be philosophically interesting doesn't invalidate it in any way.
atheists don't. Why should they? They live life the way they think they should/want.
Just because they live life the way they want doesn't mean they don't have morals. Maybe they live their life donating to charity and helping the less fortunate. Just because they don't have god to tell them they have to be a good person and because they don't have a set of morals already there for them doesn't mean that don't have any.
