I am a christian, i and i strongly belive in my lord jesus christ, and i also belive that if you belive in him and except him as your savior, u will go to heaven. and i also believe that he created the world, not the big bang, or that we came from stupid apes.

Didn't say only Christians have morals. said atheists don't. Why should they? They live life the way they think they should/want.

Okay, that is an insult. And an oxymoron.

Of or relating to principles of right and wrong in behaviour, especially for teaching right behaviour.

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/moral

The principles of right and wrong are defined by what a person thinks they should/shouldn't do. So, by living life the way you think you should you are living what you think is a "good" life.

FireflyIV (I think)

There are many subsections of atheism. I consider myself an explicit atheist.

Then you're on the list. I was talking about atheists in general, because he was insulting every atheist in the thread, not just specific subsections of atheism.

It is a bit harsh to say we don't have morals. We may have different ones but we don't lack them completly.

I don't think morals are hard-wired into the human mind. we may learn through observing role-models (a la Social Learning theory).

Throughout history cases of "feral" children who were seemingly abandoned and left to develop in the wild or an isolated state. These children have no concept of developed language and find it difficult to adapt to society, lacking "morals".

I'm sorry. You are right. I was sinning. I should not have insulted you guys. Please forgive me.

Evolution remains a theory. Nothing is 100% proven. It is generally accepted because there is a lot of evidence supporting it. More so than any other theory.

I have to say, I disagree. I find no evidence that evolutionists can make the jump in saying that a type of creature can evolve into another one. No proof of any in between species have ever been found.

I do donate to charity. I sponsor a family in Sierra Leone and have done since I started earning. You said yourself you give 10% away. Why don't you give 100% if that's what Christianity dictates?

I use what I can to survive. God does not demand that I give Him everything. But you are right; I along with many other Christians have not made the jump to living completely for others, which would probably be better. Sadly, I do not proclaim to be perfect. I need God's mercy. But I strive to be more like Him, Jesus, who never sinned.

No, I never said I was, or that people should be completely unselfish all the time. However that does not prove that selfishness is innate human behaviour.

I would say it does. Selfishness is the root of all sin. If no one is unselfish all of the time, then they have all sinned. Which means all humans are sinful. All need the grace of God.

Very misinformed. Please try again.

Then don't preach to atheists about how we should do the same. It is hypocritical.

My time here is over. No one can possibly prove whether Christianity or evolution is true. I may be misinformed, but I see the major problems with evolution. Anyways, it is up to the individual to make his/her decision. Will you live a life for yourself, or will you find new meaning in the Love of God? Realize that you could die tomorrow. Then what will come out of all that you have lived for? Do not hesitate to make your choice.

Let me end with the words of Solomon. By his great knowledge, he became one of the wealthiest men to ever live. He tried everything, there was not a pleasure in the world he denied himself with, and this is what he has to say:

"Meaningless! Meaningless!"
says the Teacher.
"Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless."
What does man gain from all his labor
at which he toils under the sun?
Generations come and generations go,
but the earth remains forever.
The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.
The wind blows to the south
and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
ever returning on its course.
All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
there they return again.
All things are wearisome,
more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
nor the ear its fill of hearing.
What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
Is there anything of which one can say,
"Look! This is something new"?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.
There is no remembrance of men of old,
and even those who are yet to come
will not be remembered
by those who follow.

I denied myself nothing my eyes desired;
I refused my heart no pleasure.
My heart took delight in all my work,
and this was the reward for all my labor.
Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done
and what I had toiled to achieve,
everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind;
nothing was gained under the sun.

Then I turned my thoughts to consider wisdom,
and also madness and folly.
What more can the king's successor do
than what has already been done?
I saw that wisdom is better than folly,
just as light is better than darkness.
The wise man has eyes in his head,
while the fool walks in the darkness;
but I came to realize
that the same fate overtakes them both.
Then I thought in my heart,
"The fate of the fool will overtake me also.
What then do I gain by being wise?"
I said in my heart,
"This too is meaningless."
For the wise man, like the fool, will not be long remembered;
in days to come both will be forgotten.
Like the fool, the wise man too must die!
So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have control over all the work into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless. So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun. For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then he must leave all he owns to someone who has not worked for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune. What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless.
A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

And to conclude this, the words of a commentator:
Not only was the Teacher wise, but also he imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order many proverbs. The Teacher searched to find just the right words, and what he wrote was upright and true.
The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nailsâ"given by one Shepherd. Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them.
Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.
Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man.
For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil.

God loves you, even though you reject him. He loves you so much that He welcomes all to Him, no matter what. I hope each and every one of you will come to realize this. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son, so that you might believe in Him and have an eternal life with Him. Thank you for reading this, I have enjoyed talking to you all. May God bless you and be with you forever.
