I am a christian, i and i strongly belive in my lord jesus christ, and i also belive that if you belive in him and except him as your savior, u will go to heaven. and i also believe that he created the world, not the big bang, or that we came from stupid apes.

Wow. 145 pages.

Atheism has become a bandwagon for a lot of academics, scientists, and teenagers recently. It should be noted that a lot of people have done this because they think that it makes them look more intelligent and respectable in the eyes of not only their peers, but sometimes their authority figures - especially parents or teachers. Bandwagon Atheists, as stated above, are usually unable to defend themselves or properly state what they believe - they will contradict themselves or allow themselves to get cornered through simple logic. Atheism endures because of people that really understand the meaning and thought process behind it, and because they understand what's really going on in our world today; not those people that join just to boost numbers and to appear "cooler" or "more intelligent".

I completely agree with what the last two people have said, in the sense of atheists that say that they are atheist only to appear cool or almost counter-culture.

Atheism, moreso than a religion, should be based on a personal series of choices that are founded on logic and reason, not something as fleeting and unfounded as the very thing you say you disbelieve.

Atheism is the position that deities do not exist, or the rejection of theism. In the broadest sense, it is the absence of belief in the existence of deities.

^ Who agrees with that?

As an atheist, I would go with that, yeah.

Does anyone know what an agnostic is? It's kinda like Ateisim and Christanitt=y mixed. It means you say there's no proof in god, but you do not dismiss the idea that he could exist.

I'd also go with that. I get annoyed when people claim that atheism is a religion though, on the basis that it is a set of beliefs. By that logic, 'not believing in unicorns is also a religion'.

I'm agnostic, I don't worship the idea of a deity, but I don't believe that god doesn't totally exist, that's what death is for, ne? But as far as being a blend of atheism and Christianity- just no.

Lol. Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone.

I think it's just the use of Occam's razor to believe in the possibility that makes fewest assumptions as to why people say their atheist instead of agnostic. There's no empirical proof one way or the other.

I mean I'm functionallly atheist, because I don't go to church or pray etc., but I say I'm agnostic because it just seems silly to completely discount the existence of God, even if I don't 'believe' in it. 'Nontheism' probably covers it. It really doesn't affect y life either way.

P.S. (I've had a change of heart. I'm no longer atheist, but agnostic).

Agnosticism certainly is not a 'blend' of christianity and atheism - it's more a middle ground. You don't know, and you're not willing to commit to either, which is fair enough.

I go with the term Atheism after an examination of the probability of the statements 'there is no god' or 'there is a god'. The former is far more likely to be true, given the evidence we currently have. Is it absolute? No; but it's the viewpoint that makes more sense.

Umm really.. Are you that childish that you still call each other 'noobs'?
I was christian, and don't give me a load of bs about "when christ comes into your life you can never turn back if you truely beleive." It got to the point where what preachers say and the bible says is too contradictorial. I am also a realist, I have to be able to see it to beleive it to a certain extent.
Some people call me atheist, others call me agnostic... But what I beleive is that we're here, should enjoy our life because it is short, and treat others with the respect you would want in return.

You're such a noob, Me23485 (jk)

Anyway, while I am Christian, I agree with your lifestyle. May I offer that some parts of the Bible might be contradictorial with what preachers would say because it was written from a different perspective? For instance, I find parts all the time, especially in letters, that say "Women must keep silence in churches." That's bull, obviously, but from that time, women were thought of as inferior, and thus the opinion of that time got placed in the Bible. I guess you could consider that these preachers might take a more *modern* standpoint. Anyways, just wanted to throw that out there.
