Sorry Salmonella Sam, modern Biology has reassigned you to Domain Prokarya and Kingdom Bacteria -- no more Monera, I'm afraid.
Frank is right in that salmonellae are bacteria. Monera is apparently often used as a synonym to Prokarya, and both are paraphyletic; thus they are mostly used to reflect cellular structure and not phylogeny.

Cut them open, hold an Agar plate against their flesh, and see what grows on it. If clean, you can eat it; though by then it might be rotten, and you should repeat the procedure for each animal. So either you have a huge fridge, or.. oh well, extinction happens, I guess.
