Well, I idle a lot and don't really go on much to actually click. Also, 30 days were spend grinding to level 345... I bought Morgulis right when I started, I really didn't know any better lol. So you're saying I should level up Siy? I have the 189 HS btw.

You should level Siyalatas if it will increase your overall damage bonus. If your Siyalatas is very low level, then there's no real gain vs. not having it in the first place.

Is there some sort of HS > Siylatas/Libertas level formula I could run? I ask because I'm not sure I want to manually work out if levelling either of those two would be better over just hoarding the HS.

@Carnas: Someone made a python script for it here, with the details in this reddit thread.

But if you don't want to work it out or punch in numbers either, it's easier just to level Siyalatas until your DPS doesn't go up anymore.

Thanks. That's an awesome program. It confirmed my suspicions.

Ohh just found a similar program that covers HS and all Ancients owned as well as making recommendations on which one will be most efficient to purchase next.

I just tried this program out -- seems to work fairly well, although I'm having trouble interpreting it. For example, what is a relevant gild level for Argaiv? Should my "Current" numbers be different than my "Target" numbers (they're not)? If all the suggestions for additional Ancients to purchase show negative values (e.g., -36.8% improvement), am I doing something incorrectly?

I completely ignore the gild level since I don't have Argaiv.

The "current" numbers are what levels you currently have. The "target" numbers are what levels to aim for at that current point in time. If the "target" number is showing, for example, 15 (+1) you're being advised to add a level to that ancient.

Negative values on the improvements for additional ancients implies that buying the ancient at that current time would not be an improvement to your efficiency.

I finally managed to break level 500 and I did this the slow grinding way of playing to gain as high as possible for a week on and off, then ascend and start a new same run. I managed to get it with only 28 ascensions, but it's painfully slow I can tell you...

Siyalatas and Libertas helped in the end, but I needed to reroll a couple of times nefore stumbling upon them. I was actually wondering if I was doing the right thing after spending precious HS on 3 rerolls and not seeing them pop up in the rows... I wanted to discard the rerolling, but then found them and I can concurr that they are definitely worth having!!

Thanks, Carnas. I'm still a bit curious as to whether or not I'm doing things correctly since all my target numbers are the same as my current numbers are, and all of my recommendations for new ancients have negative-number impacts ....

Thanks for the update, DayCee -- it was a bit disheartening, since I cannot wait for this game to be over and done with. I think I might take your slow route and just log in every once and a while. Ugh.

(Seriously, can anyone tell me why this game is so popular? I don't get it.)

You may need to do a few ascensions between levelling ancients or getting new ancients. I know I do.

Bakkart, the link that is provided(the rivsoft calculator) has a rather handy feature for optimizing souls(really, the only relevant currency after 1-2 ascends). It tells you when to ascend, and the duration(which tends to be <1 hour).

I have no idea how you guys are playing, but it shouldn't be very grindy until you clear level 1000(it starts getting rough around the 1300s). I personally took 1.5 months(dating using my text save file) to get to level 2000 - at least 1 week of that was the final push from 1400-2000 using EDR. This quest should take 3-4 weeks max I think. If you have 1000 hero souls total, you should be able to finish the quest in 3 hours.

Why is this game popular? Because it scales very nicely(the only other game that I can think of that scales as well is gemcraft) and has pretty good balance. The mechanics are pretty well refined, the skills aren't bad, and there's a wide selection of ancients that gives a fair amount of room for different play-styles. They've been constantly updating the game(ie new heroes, which solves a lot of the old Frostleaf-treebeast L1000 transition pains(no firsthand experience, but I'm sure it didn't hurt)), and it does a reasonable job of not seeming too repetitive. Moreover, it manages to give you a good incentive to stay around and be active(more ascends, upgrades, etc), while not making you feel like you have to be online every moment of the day(unlike many MMOs).

Randomblah -- Leveling -- I don't think I'm alone when I say that 3-4 weeks to get to 500 is crazy. Is that because you're a "constant" or "frequent" player? I'm on 87 days, with 10-15 minutes a day (with some days of 30-60 minutes).

Popularity -- I find this game incredibly boring (I mean, just clicking and leveling?), long (4 weeks for you, 3 months+ for me to get to 500), and grindy (even 4 weeks to get to 500 seems rather grind-full). It is my #1 least favorite game on AG .... I'm guessing that even with a good explanation like yours, I'm never going to "get" it, but thanks for trying.
