@donosld, as you say he worships something such as paganism, that is not a cult, its a full blown religion, and is actuly 1000s of years old as created by the norsemen, and has been around since the begining of humanity, its that christian power in the goverment that corrtupts peoples minds, ever notice why hell is a cuss, and god in god dam is blocked out?
@Skyla: I don't think Simon Burke is anything but a fraud, but this
That site was MADE to manipulate teens into joining Satanism!
really applies to just about any religion's website.
On reading the rest of your post, I see we're in agree about other other religions also. hrm.
@daswiftarrow: The only difference between cults and religions is the size of the movement. Paganism wasn't invented by the Norse; it's a catchall term for non monotheistic religions.
@donosid: I'm sure you meant the Abrahamic religions when you said the big three, but Judaism is a pretty small religion. Both Hinduism and Buddhism are larger.
@Megamickel: You keep your Christianity out of my government and my society and I'll keep my atheism out of your church.
Stores put up "Happy Holiday" to be inclusive, not because they hate Christians. Why should they market to only one religion?
Kurgle, as much as I am ashamed to say this, I suppose I have to, since this topic interests me and I want to remain a part of the discussion: I used to be a Satanist.
I was an administrator on the Yahoo teen Satanists group. I have read every bit of text on JoS many times - as it was my only guidance. I then discovered more sites, that contradicted the information on JoS. After about a year, I realized there was NOTHING supernatural going on - it was just my brain. Every sound I would hear, I would say it was demons, and greet them. When in reality I was only talking to myself.
Don't use JoS as your only source - other sites will bash JoS and say it is harming its members, only to get more members for themselves. It's all about who has more converts.
Just because someone needs guidances doesnt mean they should avoid a certain thing or join a group because everyone else did. People that become hurt avoid others so they dont get hurt again, we turn to something noone expects. You begin to accept it, find more answers to questions, I say you do what you believe in. Myself i am an atheist for i dont believe in god, or luck for that matter. I respect those who do believe in god because I feel those who do, need it for a sort of guidance, to help them (not sure with what but everyone asks for help at some point). Go with what you believe in and just because someone tells you its a bad thing, or the wrong thing doesnt mean it will lead you right.
If that post was directed at me, I will have to tell you that I AM an atheist.
What I meant by 'I read JoS as it was my only guide,' I meant the website 'www.JoyofSatan.org' was the only site I knew that had information about Theistic Satanism. So it was my only source of knowledge about my FORMER religion.
I never accepted Satanism, I always doubted it. As a matter of fact, I doubt pretty much everything. I also never found answers in believing in Satan, I just needed to believe in anything after I left Christianity. I didn't like the idea that I had wasted my life, and there was no supreme being. I also could not stand the fact that there is no life after death...
Now I accept the fact, I also feel good about it. Everything makes a lot more sense .
