So I was thinking that when you post a subject here.. you get a certain amount of minus AP. Instead of gaining 1 AP lose 1 to 5 or something. I know how crazy people are about AP so it would reduce the stupid threads. ALSO: if the post becomes popular for good reasons and it's a thought out thread than said user can gain some AP (ex: if a thread is -5 AP they would get +10 ap for a really good thread). But for duplicates and such(excluding newbs) mods would not reward them anything hence they lose AP and causes them to think over dumb and short topics in here.

NoName, 99 out of 100 suggestions are not put in use, not matter how good they are. This suggestion won't be any different.

Well why would we have to lose points? Then their would be no forum posts their anymore.

Just because it is a good idea does not mean it will work. What works for onse website may not work for another one. Also 99/100 suggestions are not good ideas (well they may be good ideas but not something that would help this site).

Just because a lot of memebrs may like an idea does not necessarily mean it is a good idea. I said what I said and now I am done, if this is a good enough idea then we will see it in effect in the future, if not then maybe I am not as wrong as you make me out to be.

He didn't say 99 out of 100 are good. He said 99 out of 100 are not seen EVEN IF they are good.

Mods look at almost every thread there is, it's their job to patrol this forum int he first place.

That is what you said earlier. Then you explain some one else's point,

He said 99 out of 100 are not seen EVEN IF they are good.

So which words do you stand by?

It is an interesting idea, but implementing a system like this would be pretty difficult. It was hard enough trying to get the Games Forum to 0AP. Awarding different point values to different threads would not work. The forum system just isn't built in that way.

I think that you should just get a point taken away if you're an idiot and decide to post a topic in the wrong forum section. like the guy with the family guy vs south park or whatever in this one.

Well, normally those sorts of posts/comments are deleted, and they lose the points anyways.

Klaus, I know you want to stop useless topics in here but this is just too complex for something a mod can simply fix. If this section was changed, then people would want other sections to change to this system you suggested.

I disagree, ii think it should be NO AP, not negative ap.

I don't know, I mean it would only be 1 AP you would lose, i think, if more then that even I may not want to post as much(not that I post topics anyways...).
As I see it like this, you get 1 AP for making a topic, as you make only 1 post to begin with, so maybe you shouldn't get any AP, that's fine, but losing more would mean subtracting from AP earned by doing other things. While most of my own AP comes from talking and has nothing to do with helping the community or anything, if someone who is running on pure merit-power or something, probably wouldn't want to lose their hard-earned Merit AP because they accidentally missed a suggestion topic the same to their own while scanning through. I don't think that's very fair.
But no AP might discourage others to post and help along ideas as well...so I don't think you can really do much to get rid of spam.
Cause then if you decrease that, you decrease activity.

I think this is a fairly poor idea, because first off it would be hard to code something like that, and secondly, it would discourage people from posting their ideas in fear of losing AP, and it would only slow down progress, and keep AG from growing.

That would cause too much work for mods. They can't spend their spare time reviewing threads.
