Okay, this is pretty much a topic for Christians. Anyway, this has been a Gray Matter for forever with Christians, and I want to know what you guys think about this.
The big example people always come up with is this: If someone gave you a gun and told you to shoot either your friend or yourself, or else he'd kill you both, and you shot yourself, would you go to Hell? I mean, you saved your friend, but you committed suicide, which is unforgivable, right? What do you think?
Depends on who I'm saving. If he or she is a low life (hobo, gang banger, ect.) then no. If it is someone more important than me (military superior, corporate manger, politician, ect) then yes. I don't think that one would go to hell, but I don't really believe in heaven or hell. Just a way to make people charge to their deaths in battle.
If it is someone more important than me (military superior, corporate manger, politician, ect)
Those people are not more important than any of us, they just pay people to do stuff for and they take the credit and use that credit to get things the way they want it. AT least a hobo does stuff himself through honesty and hard work and he's sitting in that little corner cleaning people's windshield with his dirty hands.

Actually, they are more important. If they were killed, the morale of they people they are in charge of could plummet. This leads to strikes, mutiny's and general disorder.
Great for you man, you obey that bible cuz I will never sacrifice my life for someone else.
Uh, the question was what would God think IF you did this? The Bible quote answers the question. If you don't believe in God, that's fine, but there was no point in making that remark.
I would not kill myself, I don't recall anywhere in the bible where it says suicide is a one way ticket to hell but, just in case . However, in not killing myself both of us would die, in this instance I believe if it's my time it's my time and if it's not, then God would create a way to end the situation someother way or intervene in the situation himself.
At the same time, it depends how I woulddie in that situation, I would lay my life down forsomeone else and be killed but, I couldn't kill myself in that situation
Logic says kill the dude who gives you the gun, but for the sake of staying on topic, I will answer from a religious point of view.
I'm probably not the best person to ask something like this... I'm as Agnostic as you can get... but I had a religious awakening a few years back where I spent my time learning all I could about Christianity. I learned that Suicide is among the biggest sins out there, but self-sacrifice is smiled upon by god. Jesus died for our sins- that's basically self sacrifice on a huge scale. I admit, I don't believe this stuff so much anymore, but I felt obligated to speak if I had an idea what I was talking about.
I will GAGAMEN, only because it's MY choice to do so.
If someone wanted me to kill them, I honestly couldn't do it. It's still murder, in God's eyes, as well as law enforcement. I'd try to talk him out of it, or find someone else to help.

What I meant, was that they are only important because we allow them to be important. Society lets themselves be ruled upon in exchange for a more secure life.
hmm. that's beside the point, which is that of communist. I agree. all human life is equally important, we just allow certain people to rule us so we can feel like we're organized. killing a king is no worse than killing a hobo.
