I heard this rumour going round that there is a slight chance the wrold could nd next wednesday thanks to some scientists experimenting with a large hadron collider.

I have heard that the chance of this happening is one in 50 million.
According to the article on the website the earth will end in one of two ways. The first is a biblical style ending.Massive earthquake, Tsunamis and tornadoes followed by the end itslef.
The fabric of the planet itself would start to disappear, trillions of tonnes of rock, water, air and life sucked into a whirlpool of unimaginable force.
The other scenario is an instant death.
In an instant - about one-twentieth of a second - the entire Earth would simply vanish from space.
Less than two seconds later, the Moon would follow suit. Eight minutes later, the Sun would be ripped apart, followed by the rest of the planets in the solar system and onwards, a wave of destruction caused by a rent in the fabric of space itself, spreading out from our world at the speed of light.
Even though it is a one in 50 million chance. It is still not a chance i am willing to take. If we(man) can destroy the universe no matter how tiny the chance then surely this is knowledge we are better off noyt knowing. What do you think?

what is wrong with the universe... well its simple. we are the evil. the humans is a distructive race.
and by the way... think about it: the universe is an unscaleable thing. so there must be other solar system and im 100% sure theres other lifeforms out there... i might just be 999.000.000.000.000 lightyears away. but if the world would go under, im sure some other lifeform would have discovered it before us.
Why the hell would the world end Wednesday? The ENTIRE world? No.. It's a stupid rumor that got out of hand. The Earth simply vanishing from space in a matter of days? Do you realize how unrealistic and retarded that sounds? I'm sick of these "Is the world going to end anytime soon..this month..next week, whatever" threads. No, the world is not going to end anytime soon. Get over it.
Didn't they say the world would end in the year 2000? Like I said befor on another thread that was asking the same/simmiler question, we just don't know....

There was an article in my town's local newpaper about the Large Hadron Collider today, and it said that Wednesday will kinda be a test of one side, and then there will be a test of the other side, the two sides won't collide for about another month. So, if the world will end when this happens (miny black holes) then it won't be for another month. Party now
This machine is real and does exist. They are holding off on starting it because they need to super cool the whole thing to a really really really cold temperature before they can start. Think about it. If they start this thing and there is a 1 in 50 million chance of something terribly horrible happening, the longer they keep running it the higher the probability of something bad happening becomes.
