Castration is the removal of an individual's genitals..I would like to know your opinion if it should be done for convicted rapists.
This is a hard one. Honestly, I would like to say yes, they should do this. But the fact is, if they get castrated, that will not stop them from sexually abusing someone. They will just probably come up with a different way. It is the minds of these people that needs to be fixed. I don't really know if just chopping it off would really help.
Plus, what if they find out later that the person was not guilty of the crime? People on death row who were killed have later been exonerated of their crimes. Imagine that you do this to someone, and then find out later that they are innocent.

Ya, and at least with dead people they can't really sue the court system for the most part. Here you'd be opening the government to quite a few unnecessary lawsuits.
Eww, gross. That sounds a bit wrong. People don't get their hands cut off for stealing, so why castrate them for raping? Like Carlie said it will not stop them from committing crimes. I even think that a convict who has been castrated will go so far as to kill themselves, seriously, it's like they're not even a man (or woman) anymore. Hard topic. Different genders will have different opinions. Like when a couple have a discussion whether to get their pet (male) dog fixed, most times the guy will so no, it's a guy thing..
I've always been a big fan of capital punishment for rapists, pedophiles and all the sick freaks in the world. It's quite difficult to rehabilitate these people ("we're going to put you in therapy, where a bunch of other men like you did the same thing and share stories" -- ...), so the best solution is to either lock them away for a long time until they die or put them on death row (and yes, I understand the backlog, what with the appeals and all).
As for castration, that won't solve the problem. There's an electro-shock therapy that allows a man to gain sexual pleasure (i.e. up the bum, find the spot!). He may not orgasm, but he will feel pleasure.
I don't mean to be a mean person exactly, but I certainly share no sympathy for these types of people. I just think they lost their rights when they committed the act.
As for the courts being wrong, that's where you fall into grey puddles. But then again, the law was never perfect.
almost all of rapings have more to do with people able control someone and bend them to their desired rather than sex. It us a control/power thing.
Castrating convicted rapists would not help. If they ate castrated, they already have nothing to lose really. So they could still rape someone by other means, and still get the power fix they are looking for.
I think this is highly inhumane thing to do. Even to a rapist. Just lock em up in a really rough prison and they will get nonce bashed every day by the other inmates. If you truly advocate castration then you are as sick as a rapist is.
Exactly. There is normally a reason that rapists and paedophiles and the like do what they do. Its commonly because they themselves were abused in such a way as a child. Instead of mutilating them heavy sessions of therapy should be the cure not the cutting off of genitals. I agree with dominated that they should be given a chance to change their ways.
Well, I never thought of that, but it's a good idea. If they do't hae the balls to actually be a normal person, they shouldn't have those balls at all... =)
But I like to think "If I were King", and if I were king, I would dig a huge pit in Death Valley and line it with concrete and steel. There would be a 20' electric fence on top and 24 hour guards with automatic weapons. All sexual offenders would get thrown in the pit and be left there to rot. Every day a big bag of food and water would be thrown into the pit and the devients would have to fend for themselves.

Mainly players (or "layas" who take advantage of girls with low self esteem.
Then the girls think that the guy is sincere because they have never had anyone like them before, so he must be honest. Then he takes advantage of her and ruins her life. Then he makes her skinny to the point of being hideous, just to match something out of one of his wet dreams. Even though she used to be beautiful and perfect weight. And changes her personality to be more slutty because he likes easy girls. In time, he will move on to the next girl like he has in the past.
And yet, no one else sees this part of him, or do they choose to look the other way? And then there is some geeky nerd too shy to say anything that sees everything happen right before his eyes, and still kicks himself because he should have done something about it, but he didn't. Because when she was around him, she looked so happy, so what is he supposed to do? Go up and crush her dreams? She won't listen to the geeky little freak. All she sees is this perfect guy who actually pays attention to her and supposedly loves her.
What kinds of things justify murder in America? That is a serious question and I want to know.

It is an interesting point though. These men may not be directly abusing women, but they are emotionally and mentally abusing them with this sort of behavior. Should this not require the same punishment, if not worse? In some cases the abuse may be more severe from such a person.
