I'm sure most people on this forum are atheists (i being one of them). I just wanted to say something about all religions which pretty much makes sure their poppycock! The point is, the race of the god. Jesus was white because he was thought up by a white person in tough times. Buddha was Indian because he was made by a prince who saw hardships in his country. The gods of Mayans were pretty much the only godly figures, instead of having races. I just think this is a big point on what pretty much proves that religion is a bunch of poppycock!
not exactly a 'major point' but also, because all of the people from that area would be of the same race, (or at least the vast majority) any religion formed around a 'Messiah' would be made up of people of the same ethnicity.
Is that really a shortfall of religion? The whole, everyone made equal thing kind of negates that.

I never mentioned a shortfall. Looking over my response, it was pretty muddled. A reiteration:
This isn't exactly a 'major point' against religion. It is understandable that a Messiah would be worshiped originally and mainly by his same race, because generally, the religion would form in a place with one predominant or completely dominant ethnicity. Take Buddhism for example- the dominant race was Asian, so it would make sense that people of different ethnicities that don't live there or have ever heard of the religion would hear of or follow a certain religion.
You know, the "major point" doesn't necessarily disprove all religions. The correct god would probably appear to those who would follow him in a form that they would respect. Why would a god trying to convince racist whites to join him appear as a black man? Even if he did miracles, they could just assume he was playing a trick on them and that their god would never take that form. In short, all this proves is that if any religion is correct, the god(s) of that religion simply thought it was a good idea to appear in forms that were respected.

Christianity was a predominantly European faith for most of the past 2 millenia, despite the fact the Messiah was Arabic.
im just gonna say this: the reason god doesnt help out because of free will. without it then we wouldnt be adaptable . i am a strong atheist but i know the arguments of both sides and i will argue whatever side i feel like
My point is that the OP was wrong in bringing up the ethnicity point. It doesn't work- because religions start out regionally, then spread. And since back then. most people of the same ethnicity would tend to live in the same area, it would make sense for the messiah of the religion to be of the same ethnicity of the original followers and other people involved in the religion.
