I'm sure most people on this forum are atheists (i being one of them). I just wanted to say something about all religions which pretty much makes sure their poppycock! The point is, the race of the god. Jesus was white because he was thought up by a white person in tough times. Buddha was Indian because he was made by a prince who saw hardships in his country. The gods of Mayans were pretty much the only godly figures, instead of having races. I just think this is a big point on what pretty much proves that religion is a bunch of poppycock!

Well cant you look at it this way- think off all the power and authority people who claim to be connected to "GOD" or some other higher form of existence.Couldnt all those people who lived at the time in which "GOD" literally "came out of nowhere" have imagined him to gain the thrust of the people and the power of a higher level of authority although it could have been for good because all these religions unite people and prevent them from being scared of the unknown. Also recently religion representers the Pope etc.act all too offensive because theyre scared that the time in which all (or at least most) of the big questions will be answered and no one will believe in god and all theyve been living for will end up just a big LIE.

by the way i said that about the representers because everyone knows the day in which the "Big Bang" experiment is going to be held is close and then if answers come out god loses a major statement that he created the universe.

Not really...It just proves there was a big bang...

God couldve made that big bang...

But again many people have no proof as to whether God does or does not exist...Its a real stalemate...

I can say that some black holes really does lead to another dimension and there really is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Until you completely without a doubt prove me wrong...Then you cant say Im right.

So there...I wont say God does or does not exist but I seriously doubt his presence..

Well, many take that stance, and it is a dangerous one. They say, "You can't tell me I'm wrong because I don't know," and then try to take potshots at one side or the other. Many "Agnostics" are actually on one side or the other and want to attack one side while using the cover of "I don't know" to try to protect themselves from being attacked by the other side.

Or they pull "I'm being attacked help me!" And turn around and attack us!

Yes, that's true. They attack us for attacking them...
And you can't attack Barack Obama because he's black, and if you attack a black man, you're a racist!!!(According to Al Sharpton, "Calypso Louie" Faracon, and the like.)

Science, at its core, makes absolutely no attempt to explain things by putting them in some kind of metaphysical framework.

Even so, metaphysics are just as much a precondition for science as it is for religion. Just because most scientists purport to be working independently of metaphysics doesn't mean that they aren't subject to the very grounds that makes their specific mode of inquiry possible.

I think as scientist discover more and more fundamental particles, we will begin to answer some of these infamous metaphysical questions. I'm specifically thinking of the nature of "stuff" (i.e., bundle theory vs. substance theory). The metaphysical framework exists and all that needs to happen is to map the terms used in metaphysics to those used in regular physics to have a cohesive system.

True enough- I did not mean to say that science does not at all involve itself in metaphysics so much as currently treats it in a way different to common interpretation of most religious...hence my big spiel on "causation". But in demonstrating one point, I did make a big omission: the fundamental shift in science in more recent years and presently, as Moe's pointed out.

In fact I'm personally quite intrigued by it- perhaps I would be far less prone to saying that science cannot be equated to religion in some decades.

this is one of the weakest atheist arguements, but yes, it's true.

I watched this programme about 2 weeks ago, where they actually found the tomb of Jesus. For some reason, I believed it, because for me, it was too much of a concidence. Anyway, it suggested that Jesus had actually been married to Mary, and they'de had a child.

What proof did they have to support this outrageous claim???

Jesus was white because he was thought up by a white person in tough times.

Jesus was an Arabic Jew. In the days when it was common for men to grow beards, he probably, ironically, looked like what most Americans would consider a terrorist.

Jesus is white because artists from Europe portrayed him in their own image.

not exactly a 'major point' but also, because all of the people from that area would be of the same race, (or at least the vast majority) any religion formed around a 'Messiah' would be made up of people of the same ethnicity.
