I say heck no! That is not fair for gay people to wed. I have many gay friends who i think would love to get married. I think if two people love each other they should get married. So what if they are the same sex it shouldn't matter. And for people saying that is against god or w/e you think it is against, let me tell you god loves all his kids AND love is between two people man/woman man/man woman/woman, not the whole world. So it shouldn't be peoples decisions just the couples. So i ask you all to vote no on prop 8 and let everyone wed, help spread the word!

Yep country.

Could you point me to somewhere that says that because I only see a prop 8 for California when I search for it?

I do believe its only for California because i think there would be a giant up rise from the middle states especially if gay marriage was approved everywhere

lol. No it's still a really good message. Eventually the entire country will be facing it's own version of &quotrop 8." I do believe a nationwide ban was tried at least once but struck down.

And the irony of this thread is that the majority of people posting, even if they live in Cali, are not of legal voting age.

Don't worry if the No or Yes thing is confusing you; the title of the Ballot Measure (called Propositions here in California) makes it very clear what's at stake.

" Prop. 8
Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry. Initiative Constitutional Amendment. "

This is taken from the California Secretary of State's "Ballot Measure" section on the web.

Because it used to be my job to track these (and other ballot measures in any of the 50 states that have them) when I worked for StateNet.com, I feel compelled to point out that on that site you can track all of the ballot measures as they go through the process of qualifying (or not) for the Statewide Elections in Cali, as well as read the entire text (for those tricky Props that have fine print like the old Prop 10 from back in the 90s).

As for my vote, I should hope it is obvious that I will be voting against Prop 8 and for gay marriage. As a mixed race individual (who happens to be a bisexual in a heterosexual relationship) I can't believe this is even a question in anyone's mind except the most fundamentalist of the religious (who I would love to stay out of my personal life thank you). Once upon a time, different races were not allowed to marry or procreate. Had that ridiculous law not been changed, I might not exist today. The fact that many can't see how exactly alike the two situations are continues to shock and appall me.

One day the U.S. will look back on this struggle and be ashamed that their history ever held this issue in doubt.

Kudos to millahnna and her really well worded comment.

Wonderful sentiment. My niece is six months old and it is my hope that she will have to look into a history book to learn about this issue.

Well, the way I decide how to vote is like this: Look at who supports the bill and who doesn't. That can usually tell you who a measure really helps. In this case, Gavin Nusem(sorry if I misspelled his name), radical gay rights groups, and the Governator himself all support this measure. That's why I'd vote no.

Also, many gays/lesbos want "equal rights". They already have equal rights - they can marry anyone they want, as long as they're of the opposite sex...
