I say heck no! That is not fair for gay people to wed. I have many gay friends who i think would love to get married. I think if two people love each other they should get married. So what if they are the same sex it shouldn't matter. And for people saying that is against god or w/e you think it is against, let me tell you god loves all his kids AND love is between two people man/woman man/man woman/woman, not the whole world. So it shouldn't be peoples decisions just the couples. So i ask you all to vote no on prop 8 and let everyone wed, help spread the word!

I don't live in California, but I would vote to ban gay marriage. It's just weird. No one was gay 1000 years ago. If they were, then the public would stone them. Why should it be so different now?

Don't blame me for being a homophobe, I was born that way.

No one? Where do you get your information?

Do you realize that homosexuality was extremely common (almost 10%) in Ancient Greece over 3,000 years ago.

If they were, then the public would stone them. Why should it be so different now?

Because we believe in tolerance. Do you really want to stone gays to death?

I don't understand Christian Gay marraige

I mean..I'm for gay unions and such...But Gay marraige is between a man and a woman...If a man and a man were to get married then well it just wouldn't count as marraige.

I don't even see why you feel the need to get married for your lover I mean surely your love for one another expresses that enough? All marraige does is make it harder for a couple to stay together and already statistics show that gay couples are more likely to break up..So why get married...Then later get bored...Go through a divorce and lose loadsa money.

...
Well, here's another way of looking at it...
If we prevent the gays from getting married, we would prevent them from feeling the pain of a divorce...

A yes vote on prop. 8 will outlaw gay marriage in California...

A no vote means you support the gays...

Actually, there is a 50% chance of a straight marriage ending in divorce. There is something like an 80% chance of a gay marriage ending in divorce, I believe.

Why do people tap into so much anger and passion when it comes to religion? This discussion isn't even about rendering same-sex marriages null and void in california anymore. So how about instead of flaming each other's personal and ultimately off-topic beliefs, why can't we discuss our opinions and rebut others opinions not the source of their opinions.
If I was a citizen of California, I would vote no. I believe that same-sex marriage should carry on being legal there. While it may be an illusion, we are supposed to live in a civilized age, where people are equal. Wether we live in this age or not, are actions are our own and we should respect each others actions. If it became illegal for Atheists to express their disbelief of religion or for Theists to go to their Church, Synagogue, Mosque or other place of worship, there would be an international outcry. In fact, it would illegal for inciting hatred! Yet some of us seem to find it ok to say that people who are no different than us should be banned from celebrating their love with their partner. One of my close friends is homosexual and my best friend has his foot poking out of the closet (he'll get out in time). They are both damn good people and if they found the right peson, I'd be outraged if they couldn't marry them.
If I could, I'd vote no for Prop. 8 as I would have to find an ego-deflator if I thought that I could tell people wether they truly love someone or not and wether they're allowed to express that.

I don't know about gay marrage. I think that marriage should be kept sacred between a man and a woman, but Gay also deserve rights as well.

If conservatives preach for less government, how do you ban gay marriage?

I would think you would want the state to have less of a role in people's lives. Yet the state has to approve a marriage...
