I say heck no! That is not fair for gay people to wed. I have many gay friends who i think would love to get married. I think if two people love each other they should get married. So what if they are the same sex it shouldn't matter. And for people saying that is against god or w/e you think it is against, let me tell you god loves all his kids AND love is between two people man/woman man/man woman/woman, not the whole world. So it shouldn't be peoples decisions just the couples. So i ask you all to vote no on prop 8 and let everyone wed, help spread the word!
Imagine being a teenage girl with all the regular teenage girl fantasies about the big wedding, and the wedding dress, and being in love, and the ceremony, and the planning then being told no. You can't have that, you don't deserve that because there is something wrong with you, you aren't good enough for that but we'll toss you this cheap knockoff.
...speaking of which. What are the specifics, what practices and traditions are exclusively given to any particular party? Or, in this example, what parts of a white wedding and all that rigamarole only solely available to heterosexual persons?
That's a question I've never quite known the answer to. What I do know is that in Australia, since it is constitutionally writ that marriage is "between man and woman" is that when getting married both parties have to specifically state that they understand marriage is by law between a man and a woman.
Honestly I'm still not sure how I'd respond to that, and I can honestly say that I've been on both sides of the fence as to whether I was a person who would or would not somehow be affected by this decision. I don't think that's a claim many people here could make.
and gay marriage might begin beastiality marriage or oblect marriage, which would be wierd
Because an animal can sign a marriage certificate...
There is no such thing as "beastiality marriage" because bestiality (not beastiality) is specifically about sexual relations between a human and animal. But if you meant something like "interspecies marriage", given that marriage is an exclusively human term in its usage...
There are known examples where it has been legal for a man to marry an animal, and this carries no problems. The question here would really be as to what that "marriage" actually means, legally. I can think of a couple of legal rights that would be somewhat relevant although nonetheless they would still be considered unusual cases. Furthermore zootsuit's right, regardless of sentimentalisms, I highly doubt that the animal would think much of the rights granted to it, only indirectly as a result of the byproducts.
Pretty sure homosexuals outnumber those who are into animals by more than a small margin.
To be honest I'm not that sure, but then who the heck knows how to interpret Kinsey's findings reliably anyway!
MY VIEW DON'T ALL YOU "free spirited" hippies start badgering me about being ignorant because if you wont believe in god aren't you being ignorant to my beliefs... think about that.
Lol! and what he said...
it does say somewhere in Romans (the new testament for all you Atheist buttholes) that gay/lesbian is bad. If it's okay than what if we were all gay/lesbian??? WE ALL WOULDN'T BE HERE ARTARDS!!! same sex love wasn't God's plan and like Stephen Colbert said: GOD SAID SO IS ENOUGH FOR ME!!!!
so stfu and ftw 'cause corruption is commmon and acceptable in society now and gay marriage is a very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very BAD IDEA!

you aren't good enough for that but we'll toss you this cheap knockoff. It's close enough. Then try being a bridesmaid at your friends wedding and looking around and thinking that you might never get to have that. You might get some fake version but it wouldn't be the same. Just imagine how that might feel. Well never mind imagining, I'll just tell you how it feels. It's painful and slightly heartbreaking.
WAIT A MINUTE!?!?!?!?!?!?!
So Kris is a Lesbian girl 18 or over on a flash gaming website..creepy...very, very...creepy...
Why is that creepy? And I thought she was older (haven't actually looked at her profile).
Stephen Colbert, as he portrays himself on the Colbert Report, is a character set up to mock the extreme right-wing religious conservatives (note this does not include all religious people). Just thought I'd throw that out there for you.
ANd finally

The bolding is mine, because it's patently ridiculous. I was raised with your beliefs. I'm not ignorant of them. My not believing in them does not suddenly negate everything I've learned about them before or since. I assure you as an atheist I am very well aware of Romans being the new testament. It's not uncommon for atheists to be very well read on many religious texts (I'm not one of them I was just raised christian so I know my way around the bible). IIRC you are looking for 1:26-29 or thereabouts. That particular passage is actually the only place in the bible that refers to women in same sex relationships (for you trivia nuts out there).
I say it is a bad thing i givre no reason because others just mock it and call it stupid and use the stupid love thing as an excuse for it. P.S. All you who say that are wrong(just so you know)
I think that no matter what anyone says, a vote for prop 8 is a vote for discrimination. It is taking rights away from a particular group of people. Just think, women used to not be able to vote. Now we think that its absurd that we ever thought they shouldn't. The fact is, it is taking a group of people and segregating them by law. Which is never ok. Everyone is free to their own beliefs, but to go as far as taking away someone's rights away through the law is just wrong in my eyes.
I was talking to a friend about this (who is voting 'yes', and they fully admitted that a 'yes' vote is discriminatory against gay people. But they will still vote yes because that is the way they were brought up.

We can think of this in a racial sense too. Back in the 1800s, it was all Caucasian, and it took from 1600 to the late 1900s to fully accept other racial Americans into society. Now we just need to accept stereotypes as well. And yes, people decide things by how they were brought up. If they lived in a society where they thought it was ok, then they would go along with it, vice versa for if they were raised where they thought it was wrong.

Exactly. And I am sure they will see a huge generational gap in the voting as well. Younger people definitely tend to lean more towards voting 'no', because we were brought up in a more tolerant environment. I can't expect my parents to have the same views as I do.
I say no to Prop 8 even if its against my religion because it wont effect me in any way. if a gay person wants to get married with the same sex let them get married wat r they gonna do to u? So wat if its against my religion there gonna go to hell. but im not. so i dont care about them let them get married an im not gonna let them get into my life. I dont know any gay ppl an i dont want to meet them. i can stay away from them witout taking away there rights. its not that hard.

I don't understand why more people do not agree with that. This doesn't affect the majority of people, so why are they so highly opposed to it? What does it matter if a gay couple gets married. What does it matter to you? And yet people still oppose it, even thought it wouldn't hurt anything if they were allowed to marry.
