who thinks communism is good, bad , or misunderstood? i think communism was currupt by that monster Stalin an therefore, it became hard for that form of government to be truely used as Marx had intended it.
It seems most capitalists, not pointing any fingers but, especially americans are almost brain washed to think Communinsm bad. It works perfectly on paper but has always been forced into real life through revolution. Perhaps if it evolved in a country like capitalism did originally it may work. Remember for industrialisation Stalin tryed to do in 8 years what britain gradually did over 200 years.

The thing is, if there was no capitalism, there would be no communism. Communism was a response to capitalism; it was not a disparate belief that came about. Stalin did do in eight years what it took Britain 200 to do, but as a result it had bigger "growing pains."

Duh.
Stalin tryed to do in 8 years what britain gradually did over 200 years.
5 years, but it was quite brutal.

Not true. The idea was out there quite a while before capitalism. All the Utopian societies that were formed? Karl Marx was the first to put any real thought into it though. Even if his idea were sparked from capitalism, its false to say "it would not exist if capitalism didn't exist".
And what I believe he is referring to is that communism requires to be built on a capitalist industrialized nation instead of on Russia's or China's agricultural fields.
"democracy is the road to socialism" -karl marx No matter how you look at it, every capitalist state has been forced into depresssion at some point in their history if they've been around any significant amount of time; when that happens, I think that is when socialism comes to be. And the only reason why it doesn't happen in some countries is because they have another strong capitalist nation to bail them out in a way. As for the U.S, well, we can thank good old FDR for the square deal and the Japanese for WW2. :P
its false to say "it would not exist if capitalism didn't exist".
Apologies for jumping to conclusions. However, socialism, communism included, largely spawned from opposition to the effects of the Industrial Revolution, or what Marx called "industrial capitalism." Socialism and capitalism rose from the same event, the Industrial Revolution.
