We dont have the death penalty over here in ireland but im undecided on whether or not we should. part of me thinks murderers should be murderered, however the other part of me thinks, nah they should suffer life imprisonment, that killing them would be hypocritical.Although the prison system here gives prisoners a comfortable time, and thats fair enough for small time offenders who say have stole a car and regret it, but for rapists or killers, i dont think they deserve a good time in prison, so i dont know.
Many people talk about how they don't like there money being used to pay for murderers' jail expenses, but I don't like the state killing people in my name. Also, the state has no right to kill innocents. They execute innocent people all the time, and it's ok when the state does it? If that were true, you should be able to get away with a couple murders yourself.

All the time? That's blowing it a bit out of proportion. I would say a good chunk of people in prison might be innocent but since the average wait for death in America is like fourteen years I highly doubt that in that length of time the majority of actual innocent people would not have been found out to be innocent. Of course I say majority since some must slip through.
Think of it this way. Murdering is killing with your own intentions, with your own motive, and deliberate. Executing is killing for justice and order. Usually murdering is because of revenge, others for protecting themselves, or maybe they are just maniacs. For this reason, killing somebody in self defense or killing in the name of the law is not considered murdering, however to kill for order, you must have consent to, an example would be from a recent court hearing, they would sentence the murderer on the death penalty. That is where you have the legit writ to kill them, but it can only be your job, you can't just walk up to a person with the death penalty and kill them yourselves since you didn't have the writ XD
I think it is wrong to decapatate one's head, but in the sense of today's world death has become more humane and if you think of this as a bad idea to use the death penalty think of people who kill thousands to benefit themselves with others's blood...
