Everybody is talking about the first black president, but nobody is mentioning Barack Obama's mother. Barack obama's mother is from the plains, and is 100% white. So unless his father is 100% black, then Mr. Obama cannot be considered the first black president.
Obama's father is NOT 100% black. He's not even 50% black. Only one of Obama's great-grandparents is actually black!!!

Ya true. You know another thing that will be very beneficial? You know how most people are racist or aginst a certain type of person because they have predisposed judgments of them? Well it's usually because they have never actually been in contact, talked, and interacted with that type of person. And usually after doing so they think to themselves "wow, my views were completely unfounded, and this person is just like me, they are a cool and decent person, and I feel dumb". So what I'm getting at, is that since Obama is the president and will be on the spotlight for a long time, I think alot of the racist people in this country will have a change of heart, and see wow this is a great person who is black, maybe I have been stupid in thinking my racist thoughts. Do you guys know what I mean?

But he's a mix and that attracts the black and hispanic vote

Why not settle this and simply say 'read flipskis last post' It is the most educated reponse to this post, it makes sense. This isnt even about losing or winning the campaign. It shouldn't even be about Obamas ancestry nor colour. Here's the deal, for black people everywhere who have been put down all their lives, who have suffered discrimination on the basis of racism, for people who were part of the black civil rights movement, for people who are a minority, who previously had no belief in change.. it's here. Obama doesnt bring a skin colour, he brings hope and inspiration to the entire human race. And i dont think thats something to be argued against.
I dont know if this was on your news, but here after the campaigns, there showed a black boy on the news and he said "maybe someday i could be president", he was only about nine years old. I dont know about you guys, but i think that shows the hope and inspiration brought by obama already, and that was a few seconds after he won.
I know that. But the conclusion: He is president, he is the 44th. Stop arguing about things that do not really matter. In blood, sure, he is less - black, than white. In appreance he is less - white, than black. What people see is what people believe, so he must be the first - black president. But is it not more important that he is elected to be president, and what he can do as a president? Or are americans really that shallow?
