Is there a god?

Yes. I belive that there is a god somewhere in the stars, and I belive that if you go to church, and repent your sins, you will go up to heaven. And if not, you may still go to heaven unless you have sinned many times and never repneted. Repenting is easy. Just Pray to god: "Dear god, i have sinned. can you forgive me?" And BOOM! thats it. sins are repented.

As I have said before, part of the reason we have screwed up God is that we add ourselves to the equation. that truly is the problem.

the equation should be:
God - me = ?

The answer to this would be the answer to many of life's problems, but we screw up the whole equation by adding ourselves into it.

Oh snap, I was never great at math....hmmm....God+Me=Voidy God! Is the answer Voidy God? Final answer.

I remember so many topics about this back in the day. Yet I regress.

This topic seems rather floaty, and I am not totally sure what it is about. But here goes.
God, regardless of someone believing in it or not, should have no bearing on how people live. It is rather clear what the terms of "right and wrong" are. People on both sides of the god fence should live by those clear terms, yet not everyone on each side does. It is ultimately a person moral choice, nothing more.

If seeing all these miracles happening by his hands wouldn't sway your opinion of a deity, I wouldn't know what would.

If seeing all these miracles was POSSIBLE, then I don't think that there would be any non-believers in the world.

But reading that he did it in the Bible and saying that you have proof that he did it are as far apart as night and day.

okay so now its god - me = ? so since people believe in god, and from what we physically have in front of us, we created him. So without us, he would be nothing.

so god - me = 0

solve for me

me = god ....dude I am god?!?!

lol idk, lol anyways, i believe in a god, but i am skeptical, and go back and forth in my beliefs.

Heres a Question we all ask
Were did It all Begin?
If you say Big bang then some one else says God created the Big bang
So heres another Question
Who created God?
I would say man and his insecurities about the world but who knows...don't say an imaginary figure either, the truth is you can only think in your mind and no one else, not even a supreme creator can change those thoughts, only you can

I totally agree with you Hectichermit there is no real answer to the big question. I guess we will only find out when we die and there is no way in relaying the answer because your dead. It's a tough world.

I agree 110% Zega, I believe there was Jesus because he was a real man on this planet...but god? no proof what so ever. Some may so that he created everything on this planet...but then who created him???

I have heard it said before that god just appeared and it was his duty but I think that is a loud of rubbish. Things just don't appear, also there is no logic behind there being a god because if there was why does he insist on having a planet full of beings that want to cause destruction to the earth? If he is the almighty he would have created a perfect race that didn't want destruction and that never felt hatred or anger. This is why I have doubts about there being a god.

We unfortunately have been born to a time where Jesus is no longer physically on Earth. However, I don't just say I have proof, I know I have proof. Consider the growth of Christianity. When Jesus was crucified, one of the worst, most painful, and humiliating deaths in the Roman empire, how could his surviving 12 ex-fishermen live through that? How did they band together and continue to attract followers after that terrible event? What was it that they saw that they would endure terrific punishments or deaths for: crucifixion upside down, being thrown into a vat of boiling oil, being skinned alive? The miracles that Jesus performed, from his turning wine to water to his final resurrection, are all documented in the Bible, a document which has been corroborated with historical text and is built from a large variety of early manuscripts.

I agree with Parsat. Miracles also happen today. A few months ago, a lightning hitted Jesus's cross, but it wasn't even scratched.

Before I answer, I must confirm that the Big Bang is indeed the beginning of time, the universe, and everything material. Clear?

But what was before the Big Bang? What was there when there was no time? The answer is simple: There was timelessness. Where there is no time, there is timelessness, in other words, eternity. In order to beget the finite, there must be something infinite, otherwise you would have a chain of finite events going on forever. However, the universe DOES have a beginning from the Big Bang. So the answer to your question is simple: God is uncaused. For a finite universe to come into existence, there must be something infinite behind it. Infinity is not a number, it means there is no end and no beginning.

Something did not just come out of absolutely nothing, because there would be nothing to beget the something. In all areas you look, the infinite appears.

I have answered this question a bunch of times all over this forum, and I suppose I have no choice but to be a broken record. First of all, God originally created everything good, to glorify him. Could he have created a perfect race without hatred or anger? Yes, he definitely could. But would their worship be true? If they were forced to be perfect, with no choice, would their worship be truly sincere? So as a result, God created free will, for us to choose what path to take.

Now free will means that there is a choice. You cannot have free will when you have just good to choose from; there must be an opposite. God created the possibility of evil to create free will. With free will, people could choose and be truly committed to him, or they could do evil and turn away from him. Adam and Eve actualized the potential of sin and evil because they chose evil, and the decision tainted the world that he had seen was "good."

At this point, one could say, "Well, if God was omnipotent, then he could fix the whole thing! Just wipe Adam and Eve's mind and pretend nothing happened." And he could. He could just reset everything into a pre-fall era, and go on living a good life. But God is all-good. He is just. If there is wrong, he will punish it, and for Adam and Eve's sin, the punishment he meted out to them was death. It passed on from them to their descendants, us.

So if we're so bad, why does God continue to tolerate our presence and not just zap us all off the face of the Earth. He could certainly kill all of us and be justified with it; he created life, and so he has the right to end it as well. But God is also all-merciful. He tolerates us because he has mercy on us. He wants us to exercise our ability of free will to choose him and please him. As long as there is someone out there open to saving, he will wait for them, because he is patient.
