The topic says it all. I don't think that it's right. Especially last year when a lot of atheists complained about Christmas trees being called Christmas trees. How stupid is that?

Atheists celebrating Christmas is like them celebrating Hanukkah or Quanza .Christmas may not be the actual brith of Christ. It may have been chosen to coincide with the winter solstice

Most of the Atheist people celebrate it, just to get something and dont actually get the meaning of Christmas.
Im Atheist, just so whoever reads this knows.

Sure it's right, and christians should be more than happy to share their holiday with anyone who wants to take part in it.
I'm agnostic, half my family is agnostic/atheist, half is christian, but we all celebrate Christmas together because it's not exclusively about the birth of jesus; it's about the traditions we have as a family, being together even though everyone drives each other insane, cooking excellent holiday food and drinking way too much egg nog, and trying to get Grandma to stop playing 12 days of Christmas on the piano (she usually conks out around 7 swans-a-swimming).

As for the whole Christmas tree, Merry Christmas vs. happy holidays thing... I really don't care one way or another. People can say what they wish, it doesn't affect me at all.

so supposedly every other religion believes that us Chrsitians should be joyful and happy in sharing our religion's traditions, and celebrations with everyone else... Yet everyone who is catholic believes otherwise pretty much. XD. Well you got your answer right there. Ppl are trying to take a christian holiday right up from beneath us... It shouldn't be celebrated by other religions because that kinda defeats the purpose of a religion. As for athiests... No offense but your not taking part in all of christianity itself, and just doing Christmas (and even calling it Christmas) is hipocritical, and ironic. You don't believe in a God yet your celebrating his sons birth. And your constantly saying how wrong we are cough *dane cooks comedy act* cough (talks about how an athiest is saying how God's aren't real) for not believing, and now you decide to celebrate the very thing your against... You ppl need to make up your mind.
You may constantly use "well its commercialized now" as an excuse, but thats bs. Yes more ppl recognize it as gift giving these days, but its not to the point where everybody is doing it. You guys are just trying to make up excuses now as to why you should be able to celebrate it. You want the perks of a religion... just join the community.

See, the great thing about not belonging to one particular religion is that I get to experience many fantastic celebrations that, according to your dictum, I would not be allowed to participate in otherwise. Hannukkah is fun, and some eastern religious holidays are celebrated with these declicious colourful cakes.
Another great thing about the world we live in today, is that there is no longer this question of "either/or". "You can be an atheist OR you can celebrate Christmas", "You can play golf OR you can play piano", etc. because we're perfectly free and able to do both.
So I will be agnostic, and I will celebrate Christmas with my family and Hannukkah with our neighbours and Eid with my muslim friends, and shame on you for trying to stop me.

XD... no im just saying that again using wat rogie is saying you guys are blantantly destroying and disrespecting each religion. By going from one religions special holidays to another, its like slapping each religion in the face. Your saying that "today I believe in God, but tomorow I'll believe in vishnu". Im not trying to stop you, I'm just letting you know how truely disrespectful your being.
But obviously our world is full of these ppl, who think only to btr themselves in anyway possible. Which of course means that they become athiest in order to celebrate each "fun" even all religions are having. Athiesm means not believing, so truely rougie your just confused about religion and what you beleive in. Cuz with all these acts of constantly celebrating religious holiday, you can't truely be Athiest.

lol. Would your god want it that way?

Anyways, I could just say I'm celebrating Chrismas. Not sacrilege is it, eh?

we are never saying we believe in god or any other deity, we are saying we are happy to celebrate with our friends who do believe, and even if we don't, what difference does it make? Are you saying you dislike those religions because they aren't yours? And, if you are Atheist it means you don't believe in a god, so what does celebrating have to do with believing in god?

I'm agnostic, A. B, I'm not agnostic because it's "fun", I'm agnostic because I don't have any belief in anything, not God, not Vishnu, which means I'm not confused whatsoever. C, I go to friends and neighbours houses because I have appreciation for other cultures and respect for other religions; respect, not belief. Finally, I celebrate Christmas not to celebrate anything of religious value, but to spend time with my friends and family, and to enjoy our own personal traditions and have a nice break from university.

Im an Atheist.

But hey, I'll take a free gift any day. As long as you aren't giving me the Bible, that it.

Meh. This isn't even much of a religious holiday anymore, it's so commercialized, and we all know it.

I think the Christmas message is sharing, but disliking christmas trees for their name, and trying to deny the religous affiliation is childish and irresponsible. It's CHRISTmas, and so saying "I deny all religous affiliation" is just childish. Christmas is a holiday all may celebrate, but is religous, and must be aknowledge for being so. It's like celebrating Chanukkah(Hanukkah) and denying the fact that it's a Jewish holiday.
