The topic says it all. I don't think that it's right. Especially last year when a lot of atheists complained about Christmas trees being called Christmas trees. How stupid is that?
I don't understand either. If anyone is being childish here it's the people arguing against the Atheists for not letting go of these delusions fed to him by the church.
I believe in God, but not Religion, because Jesus himself said that religion clouded peoples minds. I think it's irresonsible because it isn't showing the responsibility of giving credit(kinda obscure). Oh, and Atheists, what makes you so certain that one religion is right or wrong because of the church? Again, I don't support religion, but if a "Gods truth" from a false source gets a man through the day, I'm not about to tell him he is always fed lies and all he truly believes in is an empty promise(not that you are). Maybe you should look before you leap.
I do not like this topic for one thing only: you are targeting one particular religion. I could consider that racism. Sorry but I do not like this topic at all. Makes me sad.=(
Besides christams is for everyone. Now, you come here asking if Atheist should celebrate christmas. That is almost considered as racism. Screams because is angry. Shame on you!!
Come on "Love thy Neighbour" your celebrating someones birthday. If I'm not allowed to celebrate Christmas your not allowed to celebrate my birthday... what do you mean you don't care I have cake and everything
I do not believe in a god but as christmas is not about god it is about the birth of jesus I believe that everyone can celebrate it as everyone celebrates a birthday. If you didn't celebrate a birthday I could understand why you wouldn't celebrate christmas but to me it is just a worldwide party.
Okay, Just for all that don't know, most families, EVEN CHRISTIAN familys do nothing on CHRISTmas besides open the little presents they receive. My family desn't do Christmas just because I'm not Atheist or Christian, and the fact they never did it when they were young. All I'm saying is its probably right to celebrate Christmas all happily considering the "True meaning of Christmas" is rather distorted, because most Christian families aren't very religious on Christmas, anyway. So I suppose its alright, but then again, those that do celebrate it without religious purpose might be demeaning its reason for being around in the first place (Religion, of course). Alot of non-christian families celebrate the holiday in the sence of a fat man is going to come down a chimney, leave presents, gtfo, and they'll party the whole day.
Its not really a worldwide party, but it grows as American influence grows, obviously not as many people will ever celebrate christmas in Asia.
Well, it's been secularized beyond belief today. Most people, even Christians I bet think of it, subconsciously, as the Day-I-Get-Free-Stuff. Not the birth of Heezoos.
