Wow. I can't believe that this topic wasn't created before. After the baby is born, they have adult stem cells, which act as repair units for the body. What's controversial is using embryonic stem cells (different than adult stem cells). You need to get these from unborn babies, although new researches are proving otherwise. (See "Potential method for new cell line derivation".)
I'm pro-embryonic-stem-cell-taking-for-research-and-not-eating. It would help develop new cures for previously incurable diseases, thus saving lives.
Craze, think about how many diseases would be cured. Research into embryonic stem cells might save thousands of people. The people donating the stem cells are willing contributors who (I assume) would just abort the baby if they couldn't donate it.

@Topic I don't think there should b any prohibitions on it, however, I am against the government using tax-dollars to fund it. Stem cell research should be left open for private enterprise.

Yes he did. McCain had a town hall meeting in my high school gym (Lakeville South, the same place where the woman from Shakopee said "I'm afraid of Obamma, I read that he's an A-rab..."; I was actually sitting six seats away from her). Anyways, being in the AP US gov't class I got to go to the meeting and was in the fourth row back from McCain. Someone in the balcony asked him if he supported embryonic stem cell research and he said that he did on the condition that it was from excess cells from in-vitro fertilization and with the understanding that new developments would be made to minimize the need for embryonic stem cells so adult cells could be used. Palin, on the other hand, was adamantly against embryonic stem cell research.

very confusing, like any other politician. they can't seem to decide. The only way i would support stem cell research is if it didnt involve killing unborn babies. However, as you stated, iPC, they are finding ways to use stem cells without abortion.
Depends if im not mistaken theres a way to take it from an adults back...?But taking it from embrios is just abortion so im against it honeslty i care more about the babies life than getting rid of these diseases.
