I don't agree with it either but i don't see how it's a right
Of course you don't, you're a dude!! Now if they were to say that if a women had an unwanted pregnancy, that the male responsible must be castrated... well then you might be against it.
As for stem cells, I read recently that they've found a way to use skin cells from people instead of requiring the actual unborn fetuses. And firefighterpaul sort of has the right idea (from a christian perspective); using the cells of aborted fetuses (who've already been aborted anyways) to learn about stem cells to possibly cure cancer, parkinsons, regrow limbs, and a host of other medical marvels is almost like a sacrifice to the greater good. Lines must be drawn as to how far this can go (if you're truly utilitarian, as House said, "Sign your donor card and step in front of traffic", but seeing as how abortions happen and will continue to happen, I fail to see how using the non-living byproduct would be an issue.
I see your point, samy. The guy means he wants to sacrifice a baby for the benefit of many people, just like Jesus died on the cross for us. Obviously, this guy doesn't see that we have to kill thousands of embryos for research.
And if the thief is young and underage, which often they are, than he can just walk away, because if anyone but a police officer touches you without your consent (except the shoulders, I believe), it can be filed as ****. They cant keep you there.
From what I understand, under the Uniform Commercial Code (article 2) adopted by most of the 50 states, a merchant restrain and take a customer into custody and hold them until law enforcement arrives as long as 1) excessive force is not used and 2) the merchant has good reason to (ie: can't just be a "hunch" or holding a grudge, else the merchant is liable for the tort of false imprisonment).
But yeah, if you shoplift, and a merchant (or employee sees you, or suspects something) they can ask for you not to leave the store, and even send security to restrain you until police come. That's their right to protect themselves against shoplifters. Else, everyone would just run in and run out stealing and no one would get caught because the police wouldn't actually be there ON SITE.
But before a mod comes in to regulate, can we get back on topic please?
What are you thinking? why dont you backtrack and see what he is whatting about. Do you think the pros outweigh the cons in stem cell research, or vice versa?

You cant just say "Stay here" and the thief will listen. He can just leave and you cant really do much to stop him, and rent-a-cops are no different. And the police never get there before you leave. Ive had 5 cop cars and 2 fire trucks called to an elementary school during summer over a smoke stick, and I was long gone before than. I was already down at Safeway eating before they showed.

They can ask, but as I said, cant make sure. And the rent a cops still can't touch a minor anywhere but shoulders, so you could just kind of leave before the cops show.
wow i agree with ipc can't believe i haven't seen this on here before. As a juvenille diabetic(type 1) I for one am for stem cell research which is the adult stem cell and can be used to turn into any cell you need to fix an organ for someone with chronic or even terminal illnesses. What i am against is embryonic stem cell research which is when you take a not yet formed baby cell and kill it to fix something. It's proved that it won't work while adult stem cell resarch can. Plus another bright side of adult stem cell research is that if we discover a cure and sell it to countries like Russia and Poland and other countries we could make some money.
I think stem cell research is an incredible, life-changing thing. Although it does come from aborted fetal tissue, it still saves lives of more important people.
