It is as dangerous as drunk driving, I for one would actuallu make a law against it and the crash rates would plummit massively.

I hate it, it's bad enough old peoples' licens' don't expire till 85 but with phones AND old people our crash rates are high.

I for one am against phones in car because it is dangerous and doesn't benfit anyone and could kill someone.

It was just made illegal in Washington to talk on your phone while driving this last July. The only problem is that it is a secondary offense, meaning that you can only be fined for it if you get pulled over for something else, like speeding, etc.

the crash rate would go down but also people might reject the law because new cars are going to come out in the near future with auto-stopping mechanisms in the car

I am fully against it. By a head set. Because the problem is not distraction, people can multi-task something as easy as that, the problem is that you don't have both hands on the wheel >.>

It's illegal in my state

Well, in my country is it highly legal. I understand why it can be illegal, but I think you should be able to. Like if you have a meeting of some sort or whatever. :P When I get 18, I'm gonna get a car that I just have to press a button in the car to answer my phone. Cool, huh?
Anyways, nice topic everyone. :3

many people die just because of traffic accidents and i think cellphones are one of the biggest reason of these accidents...what is more important than your life or somebody s life? you can wait for the next stop or you can park your car than talk ....

I think it's just garbage that law in California. You can still talk on the *Hands free Blue-tooth* ,and how does this make it less dangerous? This law implies that driving with one hand is dangerous and that being distracted by a conversation isn't. What does this tell us? ,well the blue-tooth companies support a law that makes there sales boom, and leaves people still in danger. That's why I disagree with that law.

Absolutly dangerous, I am so glad it was banned in Washington. If you want to see if it's dangerous or not... look at our crash rate since July.

The "Hands Free" arguement is stupid also. Your being distracted by a conversation. Why not propose to your girlfriend while doing 70 on the highway? Same thing, your being distracted by a conversation in both senarios.

I've seen problems with using cell phones while driving, but neither my Mom nor brother has had ANY problem while driving. Both are excellent drivers. I'm only afraid of the other idiots out on the street, which I wonder sometimes, how the heck did they get that license in the first place??!?!?

Well, it's worse here in Los Angeles, where I'm surprised all the cars even fit on the freeway. Everyone's so enthralled in their conversations(not only on the phone but also with passengers), and too many of them aren't paying any attention to the guy that they're about to cut off...

I think more cars need to include the system where you can make a call on like your dash board, also I think a blue tooth should be needed if you want to drive and talk on your phone.
