As some of you know, the AK-47 is among the easiest of fire arms to produce, the most invunerable to jammming, and extremely easy to maintain. It would cost far less for the U.S to use the AK-47 than it would for them to use the M-16 or the M4 carbine, both of which need special cleaning kits to ensure long-term use. And they both require weeks of training for soldiers to use them correctly
AK-47 is actually a good gun. It is also commonly used by terrorists, so if the U.S. army does make AK-47's and a soldier kills an Iraqi soldier, he will be able to take ammunition from the gun of the fallen Iraqi. This will also save a lot of money on bullets and save the economy.
Ak-47'2 are not quite as powerfull or as accurate as some of the guns being used by the US troops. YEs, while they could take there ammo, they could also just fashin gun that uses those rounds. So really, I think this mihgt be slightly pointless.

that's only half true, the Ak-47 is far mor powerful than the M-16 or M4, but it is less accurate. The Idea behind making a gun such as the Ak-47 was to make it as efficient and as reliable and cost effective as can be.
Never Jams ( unless run over by a tank or was under water for 60 years )
Cheaper than the M16 and easier to maintain
Accurate enough to do any job.
And in operation desert storm, Iraqi special forces clashed with U.S troops in Saudi Arabia in a small skirmish. The U.S troops killed about 30 Iraqis and the Iraqis ( using AK-47s) killed around 40. The reason why the Iraqis lost the battle is because the United State's superior technology in Aircraft and Armor made the Iraqis surrender before long. The United states took over 100 enemy troops prisoner I beleive. ( could be wrong on that )

I've heard stories of AK's that have been found in lakes and ponds etc. after years of being lost and that have worked perfectly fine. For durability it is a great thing.
that would be totally against the american nature. americans wont do anything with anything unless its"made in usa" why the hell do you think they use the m16A3 when there are so many better one out there... its american thats why!
while the AK-47 has many pros for military use, it is rather obvious that it is becoming outdated by far more accurate firearms. One of the main reasons that the US Army doesn't use them is because they stay true to the nickname "bullet hose" meaning that they are too inaccurate for proper use in the battlefield of today. The AK-47s are outdated, because it's the lasting reputation that really makes people think of it as a good option. There are many good weapons that the US is currently using in service that eclipse the AK-47 in every aspect except for battlefield utility and readiness of ammunition on the battlefield. Hype is really the root of the entire pro argument here. ---------------------------- Some small special forces units use them because ammo is so readily available and they may be cut off from supply lines for a long period of time, but otherwise there is no tactical combat reason to have the AK-47 in mass production and use in the current US Army.
Anyone wh gets the first shot will likely cause more blooodshed uring a firefight. The Ak-47 would be a perfect ambush weapon because it simplly hoses down enemy positions with 7.62mm fire, punching through cover and battle armor.
With the AK-47 doing this, any man with a Dragunov sniper rifle could then easily piick off anyone who is foolish enough to shoot back too soon. And with Machine gun support, artillary, and even air support, the AK-47 is prehaps even more effective in an ambush than the M16. Thus making it a better counter-guerrilla/guerrilla warfare weapon.
The U.S.A uses ambush tactics all of the time! That's hat is called counter-geurrilla tactics by being not just defencive but offensive as well.
The U.S army might need to change a few things with in it's special forces. But as far as the regualr army goes, the AK-47 is a perfect killing machine. Wars are won by attacking, not just defending.
what war do you think we are fighting? All we are doing is policing actions. We don't fight wars like WW2 anymore. You obviously must know more about the US Army and special forces than I do and my 12 years in it working with SOCOM
