To anyone who wants to be an ArmorGames Moderator: Answer me two questions. Why do you want to be a Moderator and if you were chosen, what are some of your ideas/suggestions for bettering(is that a word?) the ArmorGames Community?
Anyway, a moderator can have a lot of privileges as firetail said that you can clean up spam and stop spammers and ban them or tell them why spamming is bad.
Most people want to be a moderator, because it gives them power. Even though they have little spelling abilities, or they have been a member for less than a week, their biggest dream is to be a mod and kill up all the users that annoy them. Sadly, moderators are not ones actually improving/getting ideas through, as they are nothing more than members with privileges. Carlie, the admin might be able to do more, but as it is now, it is Daniel, who chooses what to do, and what not to; the mods can only do so much. And for the record, yes, it could be fun to be selected to be mod, but for the time being, if it happened, I would refuse.
I agree with Cenere, on the point that people could abuse the mod system, I would not accept the mod nomination, I'd pass because I realize that I make my fair share of grammatical errors and the occasional double post (nearly always by accident or for correcting myself before people get the wrong idea) I can guarantee you though, if you want to get noticed, the best thing for you to do is... read This
I'd recommend anyone who would want to become a mod to realize the mistakes they make on this site (mentioned in the link) and to keep a level-head when someone is not being appropriate... and be a good person and not look down others.
Having great qualifications and being nominated for moderator isn't enough. Even when an administrator asks for you to take up the job isn't enough. You yourself must ask if you are ready to be a moderator, if you are able to take up the burden of being one. If you have even the slightest of doubts on your mind, then refuse at once; if you feel you have what it takes to be one, then that is fine, but let me say this: No one wants a moderator who doesn't do a thing around the website, and who only hinders its work. Abusing the mod tools for personal biased gain is another thing too, for that will not only result in revoking your privilege, but will also result in worse consequences.
I will answer a the question of why be moderator. You to get to boss people around and no one disrespects you. You can disagree with people very rudely and get away with and you can also delete all the bad things in the forums. You basically can do whatever you want and get away with it but you have to use your power right.
That is not quite right. It is possible for a mod to ban another mod, which means that if one of the mods is a butt, then the users could and should report him/her (of course with evidence). But mods usually are not rude, unless there is a really good reason for it, and they hardly ever will get away with it, because most serious users read the post the mod did.
You didn't, but you implied that that's why someone should be a moderator. A moderator isn't power, it is a job, and if you do horrible at that job, you will get fired. Plain and simple. No, you will not be able to get away with anything if you were to abuse as a moderator; on the contrary, you couldn't be more out-in-the-open if you were to do so. Luckily, the mods take their job seriously, and real situations like that really haven't occurred.
Instead of using bettering (lol it didn't show up in spell check....), use the word improving.
And Sunfire, why are you asking such a question? It's not like we are going to be nominated a moderator if we say something good and nothing good comes out of the question.
Hmm, we need to make a "Mods are not us" club.. People tend to have moderator as a goal, but not even half will ever be a moderator, not even on other sites.. It is really hard work, and, well, just look at Strop. He is to tarvel in some days, but still, when he is online, people try to catch his attention on threads, writing off topic posts about something they want to report, as his comments are closed. If you are online, people want to talk to you, your wall will be taken over by complaints and newb/someone you do not know, who wants to talk to you about nothing..
