Well, I saw this topic was locked, so I decided to remake it, because I think it's a good topic. However, lemme set a ground rule so this does not get locked again.
DON'T SPAM OR BE OFF TOPIC. DON'T THINK OF STUPID WAYS OF "becoming a man". DON'T BASH OTHER PEOPLE. DON'T LAUGH AT ANY THEORIES OF "becoming a man".
Now then, what I think makes a dude (I say dude, not boy) turn into a man, is when the dude loses his virginity to a girl who is not paid for. lol.
If said dude doth not lose virginity to a real person who didn't need to be bought over, then they must be gentle, kind, respectful to people who are applicable, and stay in school.
The dictionary says "an adult male person (as opposed to a woman), a male person who plays a significant role (husband or lover or boyfriend) in the life of a particular woman, an adult male person who has a manly character (virile and courageous competent)"
I would say that you have to be able to take responsibility of yourself, your life and the consequenses of your actions, without depending on parents or other people.
I would say that you have to be able to take responsibility of yourself, your life and the consequenses of your actions, without depending on parents or other people.
Yeah, I would go with that too. . .it really isn't necesarry to lose your virginity, you can be "ure" for your life, yet still be lonlier than moldy cheese.
I have to agree with Flippin for the most part, when they take on responsibilities and start doing things that need to be done, not just things they want to do.
Well, my measure is when one actually does something he hates because he knows he has to. And when he sticks up for what he does and what he believes in.
i think when a person gets married or does something great
Marriage is not a great thing. As a matter of fact, it is one of the worst things a man could possibly do. It restricts you in a higher number of ways than prison, if you think about it.
Well, i think it is much more then getting laid as most of you said.
Being a man is beign able to think before you act, and takeing responsibility for what you had done. It is being able to rely on only yourself, and not the support of others, and what it means the most, is that you protect, care for, love, honor, and respect EVERYONE! That last bit is the hardest for me...
But money, clothes, a trophy wife, those things don't make a man.
Just an exapmle. My grandfather allways tells me this one story, when ever he thinks I'm lying. It goes like this.
Once there was a rich busness man, who owned his own resort on an island. He was an expert in fighting with his hands, and was a truely nobel man. He was even considered a duke by many kings.
One day he fell madly in love with a women, and they lived happily on that island. One day, a panther from the woods mauled her, she was alive, but covered in scars, and lost the desire to live. She asked him to kill her, and being a gental men, did as she asked. He then bound his hands in shackles and vowed never to use them for fighting again.
Hopefull that story will mean something to some one. It does to me...
i agree about marriage being a mistake, it's just a symbol of love and other crap, but you dont need some divine event to love somone, but it's not a mistake to get married if you KNOW who your marrying.
fun fact
2/3 marriages fail or have complete problems that overtake love.
what makes a man a man? many things, but my favourite one is when he loses the smart ass attitude and admits he knows nothing about the world, thats when he truely knows all he needs to.
