do what i do from now on, when an athiest comes up to you and says, IM AN ATHIEST! THERE IS NO GOD! knock out all their teeth, feed them their own hands, rip off their legs, and thrown them in the ocean. then prey to god to make his time in hell PAINFUL
Whatever happened to "benevolence" and "loving your enemy as your friend" and "respect?" What you said, dacer, is a class-A hypocrisy.
I am like in the middle of everything...so probably agnostic.
I think it would be weird, no matter what religion or belief you are or follow, to state it when it's not related to the conversation or not important.
I mostly hate it when people try to push their beliefs upon me. I think it's ridiculous, and i just feel like punching them. It's annoying, even if I happen to believe the same thing that they do, i think it's rude for them to assume that other people beliefs are crap. All religions are equally valid on earth. Not one religion or belief has more factual evidence or validity than the other.
''Believe none of what you hear, and half of what you see'' -Benjamin Franklin
Well, Also I'm just saying that there are those atheists that.. 1. Are confused and just don't want a religion 2. There are those that just don't believe in anything and don't really consider themselves Atheist or if they do they don't throw it around like a baseball 3. These are the ones that don't like other religions, and just tell everyone that they are Atheist because they feel like they have to prove something. 4.some people just want to be a rebel, rock on. 5.Other.
The majority of Atheists are probably 1,2,or 5. Then sometimes 4. And the #3 atheists are the ones that tell everyone their beliefs and don't care who's listening!
This is just based on what I have seen so far. Sorry if you are offended. But I tried not so put anything degrading in there.
Thats the same for all religions. It makes no difference. I think no matter what religion is the really one if you are a jerk you won't benefit, and if you are a good genuine person, and treat others with love and respect, you will be doing well.
Because how are you supposed to know if your religion is the truth? People who were born into a Muslim family will tell you their religion is awesome and the right one, Christians will do the same. So because some people were born in one part of the world and had no access to learning about Christianity, they will go to hell? I think thats ridiculous. All religions have the same basic rules. As long as you follow them as many of them as possible, you will do well.
People of all religions need to think a little bit instead of following everything so blindly. It just shows how easy people are to manipulate. If I wanted to I could go out and by the end of the month convince 500 people that living in trees in the rockies is the way to be, and they would do it.

I'll bet Ben Franklin said that because he was such a druggie -----------

"If one never questions an idea, then the extent of it's truth will remain unknown. Also terracentrism would still be taught as a school standard." -crappy quote from ME! (So don't agree with me and say it's crappy!)
So because some people were born in one part of the world and had no access to learning about Christianity, they will go to hell?
Well actually thats not how we are told it works. Well at least lutherans don't believe in that. Catholics might, but im not sure about them. Well anyway Lutherans don't do lent or don't even have to do confessions. We just have to follow the commandments as much as we can.(because its impossible to be that good.) And God will forgive us anytime we need him to.
I have never heard anything like "if you aren't Christian, you will go to Hell." I think that might just be a stereotype or it's another religion. Most likely it's just Catholics if it is Christian based.
Exactly. I guess "That Big Band is amazing, right?" doesn't come up in conversation as much, but it's sometimes necessary to state your beliefs to avoid confusion.
Yeah, I am Christian, But I love sciences and stuff like that. I don't really believe in the creation story. Maybe that God created everything, but not creating the earth in several days...More like several billion years.
If you think about it the bible may not be so far off. I mean they weren't going to put "And then God put oxygen on Earth and just a dash of Nitrogen and a small precentage of other gases which he called The Atmosphere!" No, they couldn't because they didn't have the sciences and technologies we have today. It's just several people's accounts and their theories on the matter.

You never know. Sometimes it is the info itself, sometimes the reaction of other, as we can see with those two examples. Besides I usually never hear the "what church do you attend" either.

People often act annoyingly when they think they know stuff. Like you being unable to like science because you are christian, or that you have to be atheist to be a scientist. It is gibberish. I would hate to give up my education because I believe in God, or give up religion because I want to have the education I want.
If they didn't have the sciences, how could they make such an accurate theory of what happened several billion years ago? And nitrogen is more abundant than oxygen in the atmosphere.
