I'll start this off by saying not all atheists do this...

But, there are some individuals that practically run around screaming that they are Atheist!

I don't have anything against atheists, It's just that I find it rude when some people decide that I care that they are an Atheist.

I really don't care. I don't tell everyone I meet that I am a Lutheran 3 minutes into the conversation.

So, tell your stories about people you've met, and your opinion on people telling you about their religion or non-religion.

all the athiests that i've met have tried to disprove God...its kind of annoying

Think about it, haven't believers done the same? This is just about that everyone wants to prove they are right and another is wrong. It has nothing to do with religion at all.

Oh, how would people react if they had had my first semester..
The first thing we learn is how scientific theories are discussed. Open minded discussion would make a lot of these topics a lot easier, because in a such, there is no rights or wrongs, only an exchange of theories and oppinions. Noone is trying to disporve anything, they are just trying to get a better understanding of the subject and what other people have to say.

I still find it cool that my atheist friends all have read the bible, while the people who are christians have not. Myself included, I have to add.
So there is no reason to try and convert atheists, as they most likely know more about religion than you, and therefore have take the choice they have.

You've got a point there. I'm a phenomenist, so I don't believe in atheism OR any religion, OR agnosticism. I find it appalling how, whenever I see an atheist arguing with a Christian, the atheist is listing stories from the Bible, and the Christin says, "What? The Bible doesn't say anything so crazy!" Ahem....blind faith at a whole new level.

I think the only reason Atheists read the Bible or Koran or whatever. Is because they just want to pick it apart and try and prove the religions that they are wrong.

And by the way. I am christian and I have read the Bible...So thats somewhat untrue. I do know there are others that don't read the Bible though.

I don;t think he was trying to generalise to everyone just saying in many cases that is true.

That on the other hand is generalising. I read the bible because it is a bloody good read. And it alows me to have much more fun in life. I didn;t read it to pick it apart I read it for the same reasonI am reading Matilda at the moment: entertainment.

Oops I meant to say "one reason Atheists read it may be..."
I didn't mean to say it like I did. Or That "some Atheists read it because..."

Yeah, you know what I mean.

Don't you think it's rude to bash people's beliefs just because they counter yours?

Yeah I have noticed people do that, typically athists (no offense). I guess they want a responce like " you are an athist? Then I don't want to hang out with you" Not all athists do this though. But enough do to make a good point.

I don't think it's rude, because everyone has freedom of religion and their religion is their belief and nobody can change that.

Don't you think it is rude not to read the conversation, and see that this was titled that way because of an example, and is made to discuss both sides?

Yes I do Ernie. And everyone does it. Atheists were just used as an example because thats what happened at the time.

Don't you all think it's rude to phrase every argument with "don't you think it's rude" at the beginning?
