Allright, so here is the background story on this....
Every day at lunch, Me and a few of my freinds have 5 minute debates. We make a topic one day, go home and reaserch it, and defend our points the next day.
So the one that was the most contravercial, was is a harpoon considered a bullet?
Now, I say Yes it is. A bullet by deffinition is a projectial shot from a gun.
well a harpoon and bullet are both ammo types but a harpoon is long and has a pointed end that pierces the skin. while the bullet is round small(in most cases) and explodes on contact.
Nope, wouldn't think so. Would consider it a spear (it technically is). Just because it is shot from a machine or weapon, it does not make it a bullet. Arrows would be bullets then, if shot from a crossbow.
An arrow's a bullet, a cannonball is a bullet (a big one!), and a biorifle is a bullet, it all matters by that definition you gave us. So yes, a harpoon is a bullet, just a really pointy one =)
i disaggre because a bullet leaves ballistic markings witch is "finger prints" of a gun left when a bullit is shot, but a harpoon "bullett" is retractable
It depends really. If your using a Harpoon Gun, it would be said as a bullet. Just throwing it like a projectile would make it a throwing object. Like Skater said, no wrong answer here and yes, I know he said right answer.
Well, he sort of said the same thing, just a little weirdly XD
Ah, ballistic markings, of course... That changes everything about what a bullet is! My little lawyer inside me says that only bullets are supposed to have those. May I change the definition? A bullet is a projectile shot from a firearm, a weapon that uses gunpowder to fire the bullet. All it took was that and it all made since for me XD
Yes, while they might be able to be used like spears, they can be shot from a gun. And while it is a projectile, it is shot from a harpoon GUN. Which means it is a bullet.
I know I said there was no RIGHT awnsr, thats what I ment. lol
LOL, this is the kinda stuff I do at my lunch table at school. No, it isn't a bullet. It may be shot from a gun, but so it a crossbow and you don't call the arrow a bullet.
Have you ever seen a crossbow? Like a gun, you pull the string into position, then you place the arrow. You then hold the bow like a gun, and turn the safety off then you pull the trigger and you got yourself a 8 point buck .
