Allright, so here is the background story on this....
Every day at lunch, Me and a few of my freinds have 5 minute debates. We make a topic one day, go home and reaserch it, and defend our points the next day.
So the one that was the most contravercial, was is a harpoon considered a bullet?
Now, I say Yes it is. A bullet by deffinition is a projectial shot from a gun.
Debates are ment to have no correct awnser. There purpous is to CHANGE the other persons opinon.
Hrm, So another debate I will be makeing soon, is a dorito a tortilla chip? lol (will give reasons later)
But I belive it is not a bullet also. For not everything shot from a gun is a bullet. Such as a water gun. It shots water, but water sure as hell ain't no bullet.
lol. -------- A harpoon. . .is not a bullet. What defines a bullet is what it is shaped like and made from. If I take a .306 round and fire it from a slingshot, then it is still a bullet, no? Also, a harpoon is not shaped like a bullet. Also, once the caliber is a certain level, it is not a bullet anymore, it is a shell. Any "bullet" above .50 cal is not a bullet, it is a shell. Harpoons are not bullets, because they are not shaped like a cylinder that comes to a point, and the standard as to what is a bullet and what isn't doesn't apply to it. Therefore, a harpoon is not a bullet, it is a projectile.
Let's make something clear. Just because something uses the word "gun" to describe it does not mean it fires bullets. Even if harpoons can be launched out of deck mounted cannons and rifles does not mean it is a bullet. Some people have been pointing out that because a harpoon can be launched from a rifle means that it is a bullet.

Ah, good more supporting information.
Harpoons are fishing tools. They are not weapons though they can be used as weapons.
depends on your personal definition of the word "bullet"
i'd like to argue it is a bullet but i can't find any loopholes other than if you say bullets are directly related to guns, if they were, then if you loaded a pingpong ball in your gun and fired that would be a bullet
now i have some questions, would a bazooka be considered as using big rocket propelled bullets? do magazines necessarily have to carry bullets? don't bullets also fit under the general group of 'orjectiles'?
