At something formal or public you shouldn't curse. It make people stare and then it gets all akward. If you feel like a conversation is at the point where you need to curse just stop, say tht its a stupid conversation and walk away. No need to get aggresive. Arguments lead to cursing and other bad language, bad language leads to violence, violence leads to death or serious injuries. Sure sometimes I get angry at people, but not so angry I have to shuffle through my brain's vocabulary just to find something cruel, and rude enough to make the other person snap. Thank you for your time.

Paintballer: You are against swearing, yet use retard/ed?
That's curious.

Because that form is only used as a deragatory term for mentally challenged people. Which is, in most books, swearing.

I think of it like this, you can stand out, and be admired if you use profanity, or you can be admired as an intelligent person if you use complicated words.

I believe 65% of the world's population inherits profanity from their elders, they hear it, they test it, then they use it. Of course, movies, and the internet also encourage cussing.

You would be looked at as cool if you swore, but in moderation. Of course if you cussed when you were 70 you would be looked at as an old man, who's a real... you know what. But if a 15 year old suddenly said #### when chilling with his peers, he would be respected, most of the time.

Well it doesn't make you "tough" and "brave", I know that for sure.

Possibly to emphasize what you're saying. Of course, this would not work in an intelligent conversation.

This is true. Think of it, when talking about science, and the universe, then you suddenly swore, how could that be looked at as "cool", based on the conversation?

Makes me feel like a sailor. A sexy, sexy sailor.

Well we all know how to make you feel like a sexy sailor. Right guys?

Because it's funny. Now STFU and GTFO.

This is partially true. It's "funny", when used in comedic movies, or awkward/funny conversations. But when used in a serious tirade, or disagreement, it can be quite demeaning to the person it was directed to.

I admit I swear, underage, when I'm to the breaking point. If I can't scream loud enough, or I'm ignored, cussing can grab the attention of most people in a instant. Aswell as calm you down.

All in all, swear words are in the dictionary. If they weren't created to be used, why were they created at all? I believe someone decided to classify certain words as inappropriate. It's also ironic because (Butt, the other one) and (Female dog) are words. Words words, and I find it so incredibly stupid to make them swear words.

Saying retarded and cussing is differnet it's not anywhere near cussing. Cussing would be like the s word not retarded and stupid.

It's the modern day equal to dropping the n-bomb. Or calling a Latino a wetback or beaner. No offense meant, examples only.

Racial slurs are just as bad. Slurs altogether are.

That's where you're wrong. Saying, "Meanie!" to an adult can be slightly childish and meaningless. But saying "#### you" to one person, is sure cause emotional distress. Hell, if I was told that to my face I would be insulted.

I cuss because I was around a lot of words such as those when I was a child so they just became part of my vocabulary, and now part of my everyday life. I don't even notice when I say them anymore, they just slip out most of the time.
Of course, I would never use them in a rude manner. The only reason people cuss at others is because they have nothing better to say, showing their intelligence.
I find nothing wrong with cussing casually.

F*ck you.

Did that hurt your feelings? I didn't mean it. Many people would get offended if you swear at them, even if it doesn't mean anything to you. In fact, I find it a bad habit to get into. Even if when you say them you aren't directing them at anyone, they quickly become a part of your vocabulary. You don't want to use the wrong vocabulary in front of a child by accident. So nothing wrong with cursing at nobody, but it forms bad habits, and cursing at someone is very wrong.

I would agree with this. Having experience with people who work with people with special needs, they take great offense to someone saying retarded.

Anyways, I use swear words just because force of habit. I grew up around it and it rubbed off on me. Sometimes I just feel like it can help reiterate the message of what i'm saying. Or it can help emphasize what i'm trying to say. I know it's kinda stupid to say it, but it's just how I feel.

But I also know that there are times where cursing isn't appropriate and I do try to cut back.

Just as tim said, its a habit for some people, just from being around it.

But really, theres no reason to swear. For me, watching girls cuss is a turn off. Just sort of shows class you know? You wouldnt want to go meet your girlfriends parents and start swearing right in front of them.

Oh and just for the record, if someone came up to me and started swearing at me in my face, they would probably get my fist in their face.

One of my great teachers said "The only thing Jr.high and immature kids know how to use is their mouth. When they get into highschool, their gonna wanna regret they said some things to some people, when there knocked out on the floor"

I just knew someone would say that. Makes sense it would be Voidy.

Oh, and scaring old ladies.
Another hobby of yours perhaps Voidy?

Apparently in most people's minds it influences the power of an insult in making the other person feel worse, but not I suppose it just makes one person look cooler than the next. Absurd really.
