We did not add a book to the Bible. it is another testament of Jesus Christ. it is a collection of histories about the people in America and how they learned from prophets and from our Savior. The Bible helps us understand the Book of Mormon, and vice versa.

As the Christian that I am, I refuse to believe that the bible helps to aid the understanding of another so-called holy book. That is your decision to believe what you want, but the Bible is a unique book that does not add to the understanding of a book of "equal value", so to say.

you've never read the book, so i don't think you can fairly say the Bible doesn't help understand it

I agree. You can NEVER truly fight something unless you've actually taken the time to study it!

I don't know much about Mormons, and I have a different religion, so I don't get bothered by them.

well, for one I think that creating a new testament is a little, strange, but what really bugs me is the way they treat women and how they abuse them

Lol i dont mind mormons. There good ppl and dont force there religions on ppl. At least its not scientologists and omish lol.. like omish technology is here get with it... stop making your lives so hard lol. as for scienologists, i guess it is possible that aliens killed a whole bunch of other aliens cuz there planet was getting to over run. Then freezing them into a chamber and bringing them into space. Taking them to earth and then dropping them down allowing them to go into cavemen lol.... like wth. The guy who made this cult must have been on sum severe drugs... Or a hippy. either one is a good choice lol. Mormons just kinda get on my nerves about the no swearing rules. That is quite annoying if you ask me!!!

iceburn,
Those Mormons would be affiliated with the FLDS or the Fundamentalist church of latter day saints. They are the ones who refused to change their ways when the U.S. outlawed polygamy. So while they exist, most likely the mormons you know aren't FLDS and don't have multiple wives, cuz the FLDS is rather small in comparison to the LDS.

I'm sure there are Catholics out there somewhere that have multiple wives as well, not to mention Protestants, Baptists, Jehova's Witnesses, and who knows what else. The point is, none of these churches condone polygamy. The LDS church certainly doesn't. The crap that LDS members get about polygamy is because there is a group of radical zealots that are NOT members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that have part of our name in theirs. It's just like any other nutty split off cultish thing in any other religion. Westboro Baptists, anyone?

Yeah we get alot of heat on the subject of polygamy... But the LDS Church hasn't approved it for over 120yrs. Even when it was accepted, not all members practiced it. Only members who were worthy and able to support multiple wives did so. It was only in place because many of the men either died on the trail or were outright killed for their faith. That left many women and children without husbands/fathers. Polygamy wasn't a wreckless praacitce, it was a necessity.

I'm curious to know what exactly makes someone "worthy" of having multiple wives. Please tell me.

Being worthy means obeying the commandments, and living a clean and pure life.
