New Hampshire recently joined Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Vermont in legalizing same-sex marriage.
This is obviously a big victory for gay and lesbian advocates.
Maine is also looking good in the fight for same-sex marriage, and may make it legal as soon as next week.
There is also a group called Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, a group of lawyers who led the legal fight for same-sex marriage in Massachusetts and Connecticut, who have set a target of bringing same-sex marriage to all New England states by 2012. Maine could make them only one away from their goal.
What do you think? Do you think they will reach their goal?
How long until same-sex marriage is legalized throughout the whole country?
Yeah they'll probably meet their goal, the more states that go for it the easier it'll be to get the rest into it to. Except that in the end there might be a couple states that just won't budge.
It will probably ten or more years before the whole country goes for it. I'm thinking it'll be less than 3 for the New England area.
Well as more people stop caring about people who are gay, the more states will begin to legalize it because lets face it, they are not the biggest problem now, they're law abiding, and don't kill people. So there should be nothing wrong with such legalization.
those new england states are stubborn and probably somewhat "old school" right wing, so it will take a bit before the rest of the states will follow. However probably due to the domino effect, more states will take up the trend, like Vermont and Iowa. So it could be in 2012, it is just hard to tell.
I'm very glad that more and more states are legalizing it.
Not allowing two people to be married goes against the promise of freedom that the United States promises. You're free to marry someone of the opposite sex, but not of the same sex. We don't care if you love that person, we're not going to let you get married.
Very ignorant and immature in my opinion.
I think that it will be very difficult to get states with a majority of Republicans to switch though. This is one issue that is holding the them down, it's linking them to religion, and they just don't seem to want to give it up. All the rest of the states though I think will start allowing it soon though.
Wait a minute, i thought i was supposed to be the evil violent war monger.
Ugh, I hate stereotypes based on political ideals. Just because you're a right wing guy doesn't mean you're an evil warmonger >.> <.< also, you didn't get the MMouse reference. . . . ---------
Well, your argument of "love is love" is not much better
I agree on that. There are better arguments for same sex marriage. 1st. Why is same sex marriage bad? It is not detrimental in any way, as long as same sex marriages are restricted to nonreligious ones. No religious offense. Also, your argument of 'homosexuality is a choice' is perhaps the worst argument for anything ever. First, it is a choice sometimes, whilst it isn't in other situations. Both nature and nurture apply in homosexuality and bisexuality. Science backs that up. Also, even if it was always a choice, that doesn't mean that homosexuals should be forced to marry someone that they don't love, or don't marry at all.. some choices are difficult or impossible to go back on. Also, there is no definite consensus of scientists on the cause of homosexuality, so science is neutral.
If people love each other, they love each other. Doesn't that mean anything to you?? Would you not allow them to date because you think its, wrong?!
I'm in love with my best friend and she's a girl!! Plus, I'm a pretty dedicated Catholic, and it doesn't bother me at all. I am who I am, and I'm proud of it.
