New Hampshire recently joined Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Vermont in legalizing same-sex marriage.
This is obviously a big victory for gay and lesbian advocates.
Maine is also looking good in the fight for same-sex marriage, and may make it legal as soon as next week.
There is also a group called Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, a group of lawyers who led the legal fight for same-sex marriage in Massachusetts and Connecticut, who have set a target of bringing same-sex marriage to all New England states by 2012. Maine could make them only one away from their goal.
What do you think? Do you think they will reach their goal?
How long until same-sex marriage is legalized throughout the whole country?
Don't worry guys, despite the turning tides, on a forum we need dissenters who stay steadfast in the face of mounting criticism to keep the forums lively. I'd hate it if this forum turned into, say, one of those giant yes-man crowds or, say, a giant circlejerk...I think I should stop there because I'm starting to get grossly inappropriate...
Except that in the end there might be a couple states that just won't budge.
I don't think same sex marriage will ever be nation wide. There is so much hate from a lot of groups of people. Though i wish i could say, "nah, it'll be all cool in a bit" i won't because of all the hating in thew USA
This is a little off topic...but does anyone else find the grouping of transsexuals in with homosexuals, male and female, strange? I mean...aren't the things the homosexual community experiences vastly different then that of transsexuals?
Actually Texas was predominately Democratic until the 20th century...I think it is possible it won't take very long for it to change considering the margins in some areas during the presidential elections.

However, it is still predominatly Republican. The map below is a county by county breakdown of Texas in the last presidential election. You'll see that even though Barack had much more support than normal in the rest of the country, Texas seemed to not differ as much.
This shows that the republicans in Texas are for the most part not as moderate as the rest. They won't be as easily swayed.
