You know, this has been bugging me for about a year as I pieced it all together through rants in my brain. Ever since the slave ages, kids have not had full human rights in America. The closest to having full human rights was child labor, but that was something of slavery as it had tiny wages. Are children not human enough to have full human rights of freedom of speech, right to bear arms and earn a wages from doing something besides house chores?
For the first 8-10 yrs of a child's life its really just suicide watch. You basically just have to make sure they don't kill themselves or their brother/sister. Now, imagine letting children have jobs it would be extremely dangerous and completely irresponsible.
I don't think children should be able to vote, because as of now, all they have to worry about is what they're getting for Christmas, and if their friends are cool, or if their grades are good, etc. Even if one does understand polotics, like someone said way back, I think it was on page one, If a child has an IQ of 150, it still doesn't mean he's not a whiny little brat.
1. Christmas...way to include all religions with that statement 2. Being a whiny little brat has nothing to due with voting. Several of the people that run for office are whiny little brats, but they still have the right 3. We're affected by a president or governor or any person in office like everyone else, the difference is we don't get a say in it. If they're going to be controlling things. it'd be nice to have the entire population represented.
i hate kids....they bug me too much
I hate arrogant idiots that make statements like this. I'd say they bug me too much, but then I'd have to hate myself for the wrong reasons.

Do you pay taxes?
Plus when parents go in to vote, hopefully, they are thinking of how who they vote for will effect them AND their kids.
Ah, money controlling everything. Its a fun world As to that question, no. Then again, religion institutions are tax exempt, yet they aren't stopped from voting.

Judging by the parenting skills of some of the people I see, I'm going to have to go with the fact that hope isn't always enough
Well if you say children can vote they should be able to run for government too. Imagine if our government was run by kids >.<
We probably wouldn't have two wars, a reputation that's down the tubes, and a failing education system.
Scratch the last two. That's beside the point though. There wouldn't be a government where kids controlled it, because people who are considered "adults" look down upon us, and wouldn't vote for us. Its extremely hard to even imagine a reasonable situation where kids might get elected to office, even if they could run. Still, I'm not saying that 1st graders should be able to vote and run for office. Information is changing, and what was once college level classes are now being taken, and almost expected, by kids several years younger. The age of maturity and knowledge has changed, why can't the voting age change with it? 16 years seems reasonable for voting, its past the age where a parent could force their kids into voting for a certain candidate, and old enough for people to make educated decisions.
Kids are about 1/3 of the pop(i think). If just kids vote for another kid who is runing for office there is a good chance that they would win.
I dont think you should be able to vote until you are on your own i.e. have a job and dont live with parents. The only reson the voting age is 18 and not 21 is because 18 year olds can serve in the armed forces.
