What do you believe? Do you think teaching evolution in Biology classes in high school is acceptible? Discuss the topic and your opinion, but please keep it clean.
At my high school we're taught evolution alongside the belief that the Earth was created by a diety. So I'm ok with evolution being taught in high schools.
Please don't turn this into a big argument about whether evolution is real or not. Thanks!
You didn't hear about it on the news? Even Google changed it's logo for the occasion, like they do for holidays. They found the fossil of a new primate species, and scientists are saying that it could be the 'missing link' between the ancestors of humans and simians and humans and simians. -------
You mean we know evolution to be correct, not the idea of creationism to be incorrect, right? Creationism without evolution is incorrect, but we could've been *created* with an evolutionary history.
What do you mean? Evolution, at least microevolution, has been proved 100%. Macroevolution has evidence for it, and is most likely correct. Creationism means that you believe that the world is 10,000 years old and that the Great Flood actually happened. And scientists have proven that the world is older than 10,000 years old.

I did see this. It was fascinating. Anyone else hear about the two scientists who, well, just read this . These scientists have found the few genes that have changed over time that make a chicken become a feathery bird instead of a dinosaur.
It is so interesting because it changes some of the previous views on evolution. Namely that evolution is many small changes over time. However, these guys have been able to prove that the DNA differences between modern chickens and dinosaurs is exponentially more similar than previously thought, meaning that instead of many small changes occurring in the genome, a few master genes were changed, resulting in massive physiological differences between the two species.
In school i was taught evolution and creation oh and also about how some people believe aliens put us on earth. I was presented with 3 different theories, given objective information on each and the teacher left it up to us to decide or not decide what we believed no one tried forcing anything on us. That's pretty much how it should be presented in school.
Do what they want I have no control over it. I am against evoloution though. I am a devoted Christian. I do disagree, but I have no control. Luckily I am blessed to go to a private school, but if I was in public I would just accept this is how it is, and chose not to belive it respectfully.

I mean that if God exists, he created humans and primates seperately, but they would have had a common ancestor if they had been created in an earlier evolutionary state. In other words, he created us with DNA so similar that tracing us back further would link us together. I know that doesn't make much sense, but it's what I've always thought when I came across evolution vs creationism.
I beleive that schools should teach evolutionism, as it has the most fact backing it, but I also beleive they should make it clear that there are other theories. I don't believe that school is the place to learn about those other theories though. Church is where you should learn about Creationism and the such,
Why do creationists say that the Big Bang theory is false because something came from nothing, yet they say that God has no beginning
Because evolutionists say that something cannot be created from nothing. I know there are arguments to why they can both be true, but I'm just telling you what creationists say (but shouldn't you have already known after reading just a little bit into this thread?).
Biology classes should teach evolution, as biology is a science class based on life, and evolution is scientific theory on life.
I object to creationism or I.D. being taught in biology classes, but I have no issue with it being taught in a religious studies course (given that such a course is optional - but then, biology at my school was *also* optional alongside chemistry & physics).
I think it should be mandatory however, to study the origin of life according to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
No I go to a Comprehensive school and I'm sure it wasn't your intention but that sounded very patronising. Why is it "neat" they teach us religion?
1. What is a comprehensive school? 2. I was trying to sound patronizing. I just think that its wonderful you're shown both sides so you can decide on your own.
Yakooza99K please don't spam. What does that have to do with the topic?

I saw that on Google! They even had darwinus in its name. I thought it was neat.
