What do you believe? Do you think teaching evolution in Biology classes in high school is acceptible? Discuss the topic and your opinion, but please keep it clean.
At my high school we're taught evolution alongside the belief that the Earth was created by a diety. So I'm ok with evolution being taught in high schools.
Please don't turn this into a big argument about whether evolution is real or not. Thanks!
I didn't mean that! I forgot to type not! I'm sorry Pixie!! That was so stupid!! It was a typo!
Cool I was kinda confused And I agree it is good to know not only both sides but many more... I've learnt about Islam (which no matter what the media etc. say is a nice religion) Sikhism, Budhism etc.

I feel the same, except that some of their fasting is a bit excessive. My friend has a friend who's Muslim and she fainted because she didn't have enough food.
Yes we should! I don't care whether your a creationist or evolutionist we need to teach it. Now I also think we should teach creationism but thats my opinion. Anyway teach evolution YES, teach creationism YES but mainly teach evolution, if your smart enough that you could have an impact on this debate (as in creationism vs. evolution no the one on AG) then you'l research both on your own.

I've fasted before for Greek Easter. It's not so bad, as long as you don't exert yourself too much. After the first day you don't feel hungry anymore.
There is a brilliant British scientist that successfully proved that Evolution is not a fake, and I "would" show you the video(s) in which he explains everything in basic detail, but I'm afraid it denounces the credibility of religion itself.
He doesn't hit on religion itself, but those that believe religion is the answer to everything, and that religions' texts are fundamental in every aspect of known life. He proved, with scientific evidence, that the living can in fact be created by the non-living over many millions of years, and that there is strong evidence that links us to common ancestors that primates, mammals, and other organisms share.
He does it all in 9 minutes. It's pretty fantastic, really. I wouldn't recommend it if you strongly believe in your religion though. But of course, I fully respect your opinion, and I'll only give it to you if you ask. Some parts of it are also funny =)
/off topic by a mile
Anyways, Evolution is definitely a scientific experience, therefore it should obviously be allowed in schools for teaching, preferably in the Biology type. Then there's the written rule that enforces teachers to NOT slander religion and to make anyone believe that their religion is in any way wrong, unless if they open their minds to it. That's how my school did it anyways
But we would crush their points with 1-2 simple videos... We need to let them have their fun once in a while. They stay away from threads that debate creation vs. evolution, but in any other cases, they flame us because we are actually thinking of something. It happens all the time.
This thread isn't rally a debate on creationism v evolution (there are other threads for that) and I don't think there are any people on here that don;t think both should be taught. I don;t agree with creationsim but it would still be ignorant not to know about it.
Creationism should not be taught in schools. Nor should any religious teachings, other than in Religious Studies of course. It has no place in Science class rooms. Anyone who refutes the theory of evolution either displays an ignorance on the topic or a juvenile refusal to think critically. Creationist 'science' has been disproven on every point.
