Before I begin, I'll state for the record that while I acknowledge the complexities of debates on abortion and the intrinsic insufficiency in attempts to delineate what should be deemed a legal right and what is murder, I am not fond of the rhetoric nor the actions of pro-life activists. This would serve as a good example why.
It has certainly not escaped anybody's notice that the shooting occured in Church. I will go further to point out the hypocrisy in using murder to purportedly prevent or denounce that which is deemed murder, though this should be entirely clear to you already!
It has furthermore not escaped the notice of the author of the article linked to earlier that despite being a "eaceful" organisation, the founder of pro-life activist group "Operation Rescue" could not resist the opportunity to air his hostile (and insensitive) views. And look, even Westboro Baptist Church got in on the action!
Therefore it is my hope that despite the significant loss to womens' health services that this signifies, that this event may elevate Dr. Tiller to a state of martyrdom, thus strengthening the momentum of (for lack of a better term) morally liberal movements.
I think the amounts of hypocrisy in this story means that regardless of abortion being wrong or right, murder or not. The people who killed the doctor don't have the right to be against it.
Ricador, Craze, Maverick - again, I put it to you:
Your credo of living by the sword & dying by the sword means that killing the person who killed the doctor should be completely justified, since he kills others, right?
Death is part of Life so that proves that it doesn't make a difference...jk
Anyways lol, Firefly, I think people who are offended by abortions aren't upset at the fact that a murder is being done, or that someone is breaking the law. Most of the offense is at the fact that someday this blob would develop into a person who would be like you and me, but never got the chance... It's kind of a shitty feeling thinking about it that way, but then you could also say all of those eggs in the ovaries and all of the sperm in the world could have someday been people too.
I personally feel like abortions should be a woman's choice. I think Ideally most people wouldn't want to kill a baby. The people that do get abortions are usually those that were raped, or are not in the position to raise a baby and would have been horrible mothers anyways, so I think it works out better for the mom and the rest of society if they just got the abortion.
look, the doctor know the risk, and he still did the job. i think getting his clinic bombed is a pretty clear message. he knew the risk and he still did it. He knew he could be killed. Im not justifying his murder, but he knew it could happen. He took a gamble and he lost. He lost and payed with his life. Though what people before me may be trying to say is that he murdered babies and he was murdered. A fitting end.
the people who are booming abortion clinics are not thinking correctly... I think that the abortion clinic destroyers have good motives, but they are not making the best choice..

Exactly, it's based on the way, you as an individual perceive it. I really don't think the whole abortion issue should go further than 'it's your personal choice whether you want one or not'.
Cenere, when u said that he did abortions to save the mother's life is partially true. Most women get abortions because they dont want the baby.
Late term abortion. Usually only done if the mother is in danger. Otherwise it can be done earlier, which is better for the woman. But you are saying it yourself: It is what the women want. Killing someone who helps woman is just stupid, UNLESS you want to kill the woman as well, as she is the one who wants the killing to happen. You charge the one paying the hitman as well as the hitman, do you not?
A fitting end.
Someone does not deserve to call himself a pro-lifer, if they say that. What does it make us? It degrades the entire society to the point where we were a long time ago. Put I guess you are pro-death-sentence? Because if a murderer kills, well, then he should be killed as well?
I do not mind pro-life Christians having their points of all killing is a sin, but some should really take a look on themselves once in a while, and see just how much they are sinning themselves by judging, hating, being angry. Let the man get his judging, when he gets to God himself, instead of judging him on Earth, leading yourself into the flames of Hell. *grumbles off*
If most christians are against abortions to some degree, if not toatally, what was Dr. Tiller doing in a church to begin with? I understand he was worshipping, but really... That is really pushing it. But you would think that the murderer would respect the sancticity of it all? For thousands of years, chrucher where/is/are considered safe havens and are 'forbidden ground'. This world is chaning, and there isnt anywhere we can go...

Why is it that you think it is impossibly to be a christian and an abortionist? Are you saying women are unclean, that gay people are demons, that TV is dark magic? He was most likely a good christian, and he was helping women. He might have been feeling bad about it, but also knew it was what he had to do? Please.

I fail to see how being pro-choice prihibits you from attending church or believing in the principles of the Bible.
Ask yourself the million dollar question about that subject - Why?
Wanna know why? They have great reasons why.
All women I've known who have had an abortion because they didn't want the baby is one of these: 1, They didn't want to bring the baby into a SH*TTY world. Would you rather live in misery than to die quickly? 2, They do not have the money to support the child. They cannot feed themselves and a child with such a low budget, that'd just pull down the family with the child's misery. 3, Broken condoms with a man you love, but he has a disease that could make the child's life sh*tty. I've seen many couples with the problem, and since they still have needs, they just use a condom. Some of them break. 4, fatal to the mother.
So then, those who get an abortion because they don't want it, NORMALLY HAVE A REASON. Normally a pretty decent reason, too. This doctor didn't have it coming, either. He was DOING HIS JOB. Some soldiers don't want to kill but they still do because they're DOING THEY'RE JOB.
Using the word 'enforcing' does not make it any less of a sin in the eyes of God.
Are you saying that thousands of soldiers that pray upon their lucky silver cross necklace so they don't DIE, are still sinning? I don't wanna see your god in heaven.
Stories like this are ridiculous... Pro-lifers, mudering, people. I wonder if the murderer gets that irony. though he may have thought (somehow) that he would be saving lives in the lonterm by killing 1 doctor (its not like he could be replaced >.>
Everyone is saying he murdered babies. It's not like he held a gun to the womans head and said "you're getting an abortion whether you like it or not lady." Kids aren't even responsible for themselves until they're 18, basically meaning they can't make their own decision until then. Even if he did perform late abortions after the fetus was considered a living breathing being it's not as if it can make the choice for itself. It was the womans choice to have the abortion, he merely removed the products of conception which are the fetus, fetal membranes, and placenta from the uterus at the womans request, and whatever reason a woman wanted an abortion is her personal business.
Based on the logic of Live by the sword die by the sword, he made his bed now he has to lie in it and all that other b.s. everything I've done and everything everybody else has done somewhere along the line would warrent punishment by death.
Hypothectical situation: I have an allergic reaction to wasp stings. If stung it could be fatal unless I recieve the proper treatment. I killed a wasp out of fear of being stung. So because I killed a wasp somebodies going to shoot me dead? Same story different version, I get stung and need treatment, I go to the hospital and get an adrenaline shot to save my life, and becasue a doctor helped save my life through complications of a wasp sting he gets shot dead?
Yeah the whole live by the sword crap makes a whole lot of sense...
