This thread is about the gross misrepresentation of books by movies! Name the one movie you've seen about a book you've read that HORRIBLY changes it. You know what I'm talking about. You read a book you like and get hyped up when you hear they're making a movie about it. Then you see the movie...and it is waaaaay different/worse than the book. Here's where you post the movie/book names and how they were worse than the book.
Mine is Eragon. I mean...they changed/chopped off...sooooooo much! I was really disappointed in it. I mean, a few changes are okay. But the list goes on and on. They didn't mention Orik or the Twins, they changed Murtagh hugely, they changed Brom's method of death to a more dramatic(and stupid) thing, and they totally misrepresented Roran and Saphira.
All I can say is, if they're making a movie about the second book:
1. I am so not watching it
2. They are gonna have serious problems about the crucial bits they chopped off of the first one.
I guess it was a good movie. But I went into that theater expecting the book...and I got a totally different thing, and a huge disappointment.

And to finish, Twilight is ridiculous..

Definitely. Ok, vegan vampires we've heard of. But he falls in love with a...well, I just really didn't like it. And besides, the acting was awful!
Another stupid movie not based on a book: Primer. Worst movie EVER! I fell asleep during it and it was in the afternoon. I hate Primer.

Also, idk about you, but I was kinda disappointed in the Da Vinci Code.

Da Vinci Code is just rubish.
You know everything that will happen almost a hundred page before it actually happens...
And it's not really welle-writted

Twilight...

They chop and changed some parts of the book.

But im pretty sure the next one will be ok cuz of diff director.

Note:Ive only watched the movie, and i was litterly forced to.

Pfft why would i read about vampires, a chick and a wolf?

I think the worst book-movie switch I've ever encounter so far would be Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. They left a good chunk from the book out of the movie. Very disappointing. They even added some rubbish into the movie that never existed in the book. What were they thinking?

A lot of you guys are saying that Harry Potter movies in general are bad, but not all of them were. The first movie was actually quite good in terms of accuracy to the book.

Eragorn. I have never seen a worse Book-Movie transition. If your going to make a movie out of a great book, get it right. I haven't seen it in awhile but they left out a bad guy. And Saphira wasn't anything like in the book, I can't say much right now but that's the worst movie ever, one of the best books ever too. They better not make another one, that'd ruin the series even more.

Yeah I totally agree with you Krizaz. In fact, Eragon is the reason I created this thread.
It's very, very sad. They took a great book and ruined the movie about it. I mean, they didn't even MENTION Orik or the Twins! I don't think they'll be able to make a second movie though, so don't sweat it.

And the kid who played Eragon? Bad acting. He had no facial expression whatsoever!

Twilight sucks and will alwas do.I've seen the trailer of the second part, and it begins with "I love you"....LAME!

They took a great book and ruined the movie about it

Since when is Eragon a great book?
It sucks! It's just so easy to create such a story!
You take a young guy, in a farm, and, OH!one day, he find a dragon's egg (such an hazard!!), and BIM§ he's the one that the ancient-and-very-powerfull-prophecy announced!!
It's annoying, not original, he invented nothing, he juts took cliché from all fantasy books to produce an average piece of shit, that makes teenagers feel more powerfyull and imagine that one day they'll have the possibilities to ride a dragon...
Believe me, I read quite a lot of fantasy in my life, and Eragon is not a shaped to be a great book!

i don't want to repeat what the others said, but the Harry Potter movies suck. They totally misunderstood some passages.

Harry Potter 4-6 although I have only seen 4 and 5 out of that group it was enough to make me dread seeing 6 and glad that I had only seen 4 and 5 thanks to a friend renting them and then watching them with me.

eragon is the worst film I have ever seen Im not going to say why becuase its really obvious and i will just go on forever about how rubbish it is. I dont no why everyone is saying the lord of the rings films they were really good and all of the books were very long at least they tried to add it all in unlike eragon and the 6th harry potter film.
