Today, Sarah Palin announced that she will not run for office in 2010 as the Alaska Governor.

This sets her up for a Presidential run in 2012, as she will not have a day job to contend with.

Now, personally, I find this a crazy move on her part. She has to be delusional to some degree.

Sure, she's very popular among the extreme right wing of the Republican party, but this is surely not enough to win an election.

What do you guys think of her chances in 2012? And do you think she would even be able to get the Republican nomination?

As if you would let her.

I have yet to see a fiscal policy come out of Alaska that counts as "good."

From the surplus in the budget that came from the oil industry, she decided to give the Alaskan people an extra $1000 or so. Then she decided to borrow money that she wanted to invest in infrastructure.

If she can't make any decisions, that gives me no reason to move her up or down on me respect list.

Which might actually be part of resigning as governor. But if you're not prepared to have every single choice you make scrutinized by people you will never come into contact with from across the nation and throughout the world, why even bother running for a post as big as governor?

Which is why she's a 7 on my list, and not an 8 or a 9. That's a bad decision, sure, but it can be paid off in time. Like 5-10 years. And if the oil industry keeps holding out on us, maybe less, if the oil industry goes down the sh*tter then longer. Alaska's entire economy is based on oil, similar to Arizona's economy being based entirely on construction. If you think about it though, there aren't a lot of people in Alaska, so that would have been pheesable. I'm not saying it was a good decision, but it wasn't a bad one either.

well they wouldn't watch her so carefully if she didn't run for vice prez and screw her reputation up by saying stupid things and having her pregnant teenage daughter made fun of on television.

Maybe SHE was the one who screwed up HER political career/life

Don't forget Trig...

Personally i think she's shooting herself in the foot. If she's trying to run for president(which I doubt), then its a mixed blessing. People wont be able to focus on all the negative things she's done, but she wont be able to do anything good either. And in another article released by the Associated press, Palin twitter'd and said that "...my family is happy". Maby she just wants to give her family a break, after the joke Davil Letterman gave...

I think that she will not win,

She doesn't have a chance unless they majorly changes her image by then. Not even the GOP supports her right now.

But of course she's not going to tell us her plans yet.

In this article it says she is going to try to "effect positive change from outside government". Whatever that means...

Her being outside government is positive in itself. I wouldn't trust that bimbo to run a sweet shop.

hmm a lot is happening lately three celebrities die in two days and then in less then a week Sarah Palin leaves office. Well I think that she probably is not going to run for the office of president, and even if she did leaving the office of Governor would just mean she has less experience in office when she runs in 2012, which was one of the things the media got after her for as the VP candidate. She would have nothing to gain from this politically if you ask me, and that is why I think it is for some other reason, like some have said possibly get away from all the things going on, maybe take a (permanent) break from politics or whatever, but I doubt its because she has plans for a Presidential run.

I hope she runs in 2012. This will guarantee that the Republicans won't be in office for another 4 years. Now we just need to destroy the Democrats too.

Was that sarcasm? I hope not. I'll help you if needed. What I said was sarcasm.

Hm, I think this has something to do with her family more than anything else. I mean, who would seriously want to be bashed by a bunched of ignorant left wingnuts because your mom is running with a dipsh*t? Not me, and where I come from you don't bash peoples families to get back at people. It's a sign of weakness. And will most likely get you shot in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Nope. The Democrats are just as much a part of this elitist, imperialist, right-wing purgatory that plagues the US.

That's what its been ever since the invention of government. There is the illusion of a democracy: The elitist class has always and always will run the government. Since there is only a handful of elitists, they tend to be very closed to other people.(Holier than thou) As a result they breed selectively so no new people can join their status. From what I seen, most of the elitists want to inherit their fathers' statuses. So... they presue a career in government. Since it is very hard to join public office at that level for the middle class; essentially its a government of the elite not a government of the people.

In my opinion, God forbid Palin to be the next president. If given the choice between her or Hillary Clinton, I would have to think about. Palin wants Alaska to become its own country. I don't exactly approve of this..Also on CNN she hosted a public prayer session for the people who got laid off in a public government office What ever happened to separation of church and state. To top that off, she claims to be a good involved mother.. and her 18 year old daughter got pregnant. (Remember from last year?)

Any way I'm done with my rant. I'm kinda of fired up right now.

If Sarah Palin is leaving office just to get out of the spotlight and stop the attacks on her family, then it was a good move for her. If she's planning to run for president in 2012, which I doubt, then she's an idiot. There is no way she could possibly win unless Obama does something so ridiculously stupid that everyone disagrees with it. And that is unlikely as well, because most actions, good or bad, have people for and against it.
I don't think she's a bad person, but she's inexperienced with the politics game, and there's no way she'll get better over the course of the next few years.

Ha, wow.

Nope. The Democrats are just as much a part of this elitist, imperialist, right-wing purgatory that plagues the US.

So are you saying that we need the left wing to be introduced to America, or we need some sane right wingers? Because America is afraid of anything more left wing than Democrats (but like you said, that's not even left wing considering the world).

Palin wants Alaska to become its own country.

I've never heard that, do you have a source?

What ever happened to separation of church and state

Ha, if it was up to some of those Republican extremists there wouldn't be such a thing. I feel that it's unprofessional to practice religion in a government office, or any office really.
