Today, Sarah Palin announced that she will not run for office in 2010 as the Alaska Governor.

This sets her up for a Presidential run in 2012, as she will not have a day job to contend with.

Now, personally, I find this a crazy move on her part. She has to be delusional to some degree.

Sure, she's very popular among the extreme right wing of the Republican party, but this is surely not enough to win an election.

What do you guys think of her chances in 2012? And do you think she would even be able to get the Republican nomination?

Nope. The Democrats are just as much a part of this elitist, imperialist, right-wing purgatory that plagues the US.

Okay. Imma guess your an anti-government person? Sorta like an anarchist?

Drill Baby Drill was the only sure fire way of getting off this dependence on foreign oil. So what if a few caribou die, do you want to be paying Saudi Arabia for half the gas you buy? No you don't, I didn't think so.

F*ck you. We already do enough drilling here. Just wait till they find oil in Yellowstone, by a bunch of endangered animals! Screw you tourist!, you as idiotic as her. oil is oil, and were not as dependent on it as we were. Not everyone has a gas-guzzling hummer.

I'm sorry. Say that again. Without the 'F*ck you part.' Or the flaming. And Yellowstone is a freaking volcano you idiot. Oil + Volcano = No more oil.

Yellow stone is either 1 million acres+ or almost a million acres, I might be confusing it with 100,000+, but either way, there's way too much land in yellowstone to be sure there's no oil.

No, you don't understand. It's a giant volcano. All the oil that was ever in it erupted with it last time it blew. Every square inch of that park is above a magma chamber. Every single square inch. That's where we get the geysers like Old Faithful.

We already pay Saudi Arabia for the half the gas we buy, along with the rest of the Middle East. What happens as soon as that oil in Alaska ruins out? We're stuck with them again, and all we got were a few dead Caribou and a year or two with semi-complete foreign oil dependence, and when we return to relying on the global market we're a captive audience again forced to pay outrageous prices because foreign countries know we don't have any reserves. Its not a sure fire way, its a quick fix that will fall apart just as quickly. Only way to gain complete oil independence is to not use the stuff, but that's not going to happen as long as oil company's have power in the American government, which every single major company in the world seems to have.

Oh are guy talking about the tar sands in Yellowstone? Those sands are possibly the hardest type of oil to refine. It costs a lot of money to actual get the oil out of the tar sands. Using this simple formula: Cost to make^=Price of product^; The cost of oil will probably go up.

I am for oil independence for foreign countries, yet at the same time I am for alternative fuels. I think all of us agree that at some point the world needs a better source of energy. It is estimated that all the easy obtained oil will run out in some 50-100 years or so. Im looking at this new biofuel technique where they grow mold and use the oils from it to power a car. I just need to get the links working....

Oh by the way, my dad is a geologist. He says that in Volcanoes there is NO oil in them. Old Faithful is caused by geothermal vents. There is oil Surrounding the volcano thanks to the dead dinosaurs from the last eruption a couple million years back. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't oil essentially broken down fats and lipids?
