Today North Korea sent a message to the US, in the form of seven ballistic missiles. Obviously, they didn't hit anything, but it is still going to increase tension between the UN and North Korea.
What I'm wondering though, is why in the world they would launch missiles that they know aren't going to get close to the US. Also, North Korea isn't exactly the largest country, and if the US was to go to war with them it would be over very quickly. North Korea wouldn't be able to match the size of the army, and our own nuclear weapons could wipe them off the map if we chose to use them.
How do you feel about the situation? Will the US once again be police of the world, or will we for once make the UN deal with this on their own? Is Kim Jong Il just stupid, or is there a reason he spends millions of dollars to develop missiles, then sends them shooting into the ocean?
exactly, and if Europe, America and Asia try to take North Korea down its gonna be WW III, just imagine how many people are going to dieand the world crisis will be even worse
Though mostly, it's NK vs. A whole coalition of countries. This won't be a world war, unless it will escalate somehow.
Just think about it, a country the size of Mississippi against the world...
yeah right the size of the country is so important. korea has the second strongest army in asia. the only country in asia with a bigger one is china. and NK have nukes. so yes even with a four foot tall leader and being the size of mississipi they can do a lot aof trouble in the whole area.
If so, NK could still be subdued without destroying it.
i personally do not believe in this one. NKs governement is to fanatic to give up without a serious battle. and the country has a similar structure to vietnam. without really heavy bombing and destruction a war in NK is not going to be won
Though it may be very, very unlikely there is a chance that NK won't fight until it is destroyed.
That wouldn't be helped by the fact that a lot of the civilians would be fighting too. They might keep up a guerrilla war even after the government surrendered.

Most likely though, after a huge war, they would be very weak and disorganized leaving prone to getting their butts handed to them. If they want to fight for their dictator they can die too.

as we have seen in the recent wars guerilla tactics are pretty effective. you have no organized enemy and every single civilian could start shooting at you. you have two choices. get the hell out of that country, or start destroying it systematiclly
We have a winner. If you are going to war with a dictator and the people are going to stand by him they will die as well. You want to country to go back into the peoples hands so you will do what you must to rid the country of the faction(s).
