Today North Korea sent a message to the US, in the form of seven ballistic missiles. Obviously, they didn't hit anything, but it is still going to increase tension between the UN and North Korea.

What I'm wondering though, is why in the world they would launch missiles that they know aren't going to get close to the US. Also, North Korea isn't exactly the largest country, and if the US was to go to war with them it would be over very quickly. North Korea wouldn't be able to match the size of the army, and our own nuclear weapons could wipe them off the map if we chose to use them.

How do you feel about the situation? Will the US once again be police of the world, or will we for once make the UN deal with this on their own? Is Kim Jong Il just stupid, or is there a reason he spends millions of dollars to develop missiles, then sends them shooting into the ocean?

in iraq you guys rushed in and crushed 'em, why not the same way in NK? maybe it's because of the technology and the weapons they have... its much easier to crush a dictator who has only few soldiers and old weapons. a guy with modern tech and lots of soldiers isn't that easy to finish off...

why can't we live in peace, together?

I don't know that the entire country of NK is stupid. Kim Jong Il seems to be pretty stupid though. He after all is the person in control of the country.

I also want to ask something here. Does everyone from other countries assume that the entire population of the U.S. just wants to go to war with every other country in the world? Large parts of the U.S. population were against the invasion of Iraq in the first place. This country isn't just made up of trigger happy wannabe bomb droppers. Where I live most people just want to live their lives in peace, without being afraid that someone is going to attack us, and without feeling like the rest of the world hate us for decisions we only had a minuscule affect on. Of course the part of the U.S. I live in isn't even close to being in range of missiles from anywhere (unless Canada is planning an invasion).

But what about civilians?

Well they also want to kill Americans, so it's like like they're very innocent. If it came to war they would be helping the army.

The reason we're at war is because muslim extremists view America as the devil. The women in our countries don't cover all their skin, and they are single and look for men. Our people eat pork which is a sin to them. We go against alot of the rules in their holy books so they think that we should die for it. We don't want to die so we are going to fight back.

Too bad that applies to Iraq and Afghanistan and has absolutely NOTHING to do with NK, go post on a different thread.

Ya, he's right. I don't see how that relates. Could you please explain, Pwn?

We thought the same thing about Germany when the second world war started. Germany was well outnumber in countries and although we won it left a hard blow to all of the Allies. I'm not saying NK is as strong as Germany, but things have changed majorly over the years. North Korea like Germany is smaller than the U.S., but both have a higher number of soldier than we do (I think).

I heard something that NK had enough chemicals to make quite a few atomic bombs/missiles something of the sort. So we don't really no what we would get into going onto foreign soil...again. Plus if we fired Nukes they might fire something and another country fire something and then Nuclear War...

Don't get me wrong though, the U.S. is a powerful nation with our advances in almost every field of technology, but like I said we really would no what they have until we go over there.

I don't think that will happen, because the atomic bomb is banned since 1945 or something like that.

USA were in the World War 1 though significant numbers of American troops only arrived in Europe in the summer of 1918.

So true. The dictator is the one running the country, and showing themselves as a threat to the rest of the world!

you're not really comparing NK to germany, are you?!? germany is now a peaceful country with only 250k soldiers (no need for more in peaceful EU) but NK, in my opinion, provokes war. maybe they don't have any useful activities for their soldiers ^^
nevertheless, i'm concerned about the behaviour of NK

@kabuto: yeah germany is peaceful know. but if you read the quote it speaks about the nazi germany before ww2. so yeah you could compare this two countries. because back in the days germany was not so peaceful and was also lead by a fanatic and crazy leader.
i just hope, that the world has developed in the last 60 years, so that we can find a peaceful solution to this conflict and do not engage in a major conflict with NK. especially not since they have nukes

That's two posts I've seen you make to day with nothing having to do with the topic Pwn

You're retarded, I was responding to what you said, that makes both of us off-topic...

Just stop NK from testing its missles. If they refuse, blow up their launch pads. They'd be easy enough to find.
