homless people are just bumbs who have no work ethic and no friends. The only reason you end up on the street is because you are stupid, don't save money, don't work hard, and have no friends you can fall back on.
Thats so stereotyped, just because you see it in movies and n TV doesn't necessarily mean that its true, right now many people are homeless because the stock market crashed, in countries around the world hundreds lost their jobs and entire corporations shut down..now what happens if those people have families who rely on them for support...unless said person gets a job (which there are very few of right now) chances are that the entire family will be forced into homelessness...

i would steal a violin or viola, play on the streets with other homeless people for moneys and then buy clothes, audition for an orchstra and hopefully they take me then i can't get a small apartment and foods and stuff.

What makes you think I got my ideas from TV? I'm not like the rest of you who are sheltered from the world. There have been studies done on the homeless were they found that they WANT to be because it's an easier life, and they make about $15 an hour begging on the streets. Also, if you lose your job, you get UNEMPLOYMENT money. If you can't get a job, then that is your fault. There are ALWAYS people hiring.

You shouldn't live pay check to pay check anyways. It's called a savings. You can always go into Debt and still keep your way of life. That's the entire point of taking out a lone or using credit.
Yes. If I was homeless and going to die because of the cold, hunger, and likely drug addiction (I live in Vancouver, if you are homeless you are probably addicted to something) then I would commit a crime. Prisons are shelter, warmth, they provide food, they are drug free and provide drug addiction programs, they provide work programs so I can get a job. You're darn right I would commit a crime, although lets be realistic here.

If I was homeless I would vote for the socialist party! Then there would be no homeless people and therefore less crime if the socialist candidate for president got elected! Also, think of all that increased government spending money! Schools, healthcare, public parks, beaches and so on would all be a problem of the past!

the list man is totally right. I volunteer and quite often mental illness and bad luck play huge roles. (that there is agreeing with him saying it's not as simple as you say.
It is not even close to being that simple. And as for not working hard, there is a reason people see certain homeless people regularly, they work very, very hard to survive. Harder than you or I have worked at almost anything in our lives. The fact is, not everybody starts off from birth equal and so not everybody gets the same opportunities. I have helped out a couple who lost everything while the woman was pregnant. The child was born to homeless parents. When that child grows up tell me exactly how them having the same levels of motivation and the same work ethic as you would get them anywhere.

First of all, I work very hard. You shouldn't speek for anyone besides yourself. Also, don't call me stupid, I have documentation that supports my arguments. I'm not sure what your experiances are, but the exception doesn't make the rule. I don't see how the ill and the homeless are the same, but this topic is about if YOU were homeless.
If you lose your job, you get unemployment to hold you over until you get another job. If you are really desperate, will you commit a crime? There are several reason why you should, and shouldn't. In a perfect world, no one should comitt a crime. Most stores account and expect people to steal. It all depends on what you want to live for.
