If you were a homeless person, and had nothing, would you do something really bad so the cops would bring you to jail and you would at least get food, water, and shelter?
i see...but still a bad thing, b/c the homeless is making somebody else suffer, and they family too, for its one sake. Self-fishness. (if thats a word)
Well, it definately isn't worth committing a crime for self preservation and then losing everything and gaining nothing from the experience. I think it boils down to, can you justify the occasional wrongs of self preservation? For those who have everything they could want would look at it as a worthless homeless person who committed a crime and deserves to be punished. Others would realize that, given the cirumstances, the homeless person has no home, no family, no friends, and no idea of what it is like to know happiness and security. They are trying to survive in a world that is set against them, sometimes that is how they will it to be, but for others it is a life of depression and difficulty that is forced upon them.
So to answer the questio "Would you do a crime if you were homeless?" I would say that having lived a life where morality is not twisted and distorted by crimes and bad deeds that I would not commit a crime if I were homeless.
Why die in the street when you could have socialism and live decent life? There's more honor in dieing for a just cause than kicking the bucket because you didn't even try!
Socialism doesn't make anyone poor, no offense but that is kind of ignorant. Sweden does not have a population where everyone is poor, and it is always being called a socialist country. New Lanark had some of the happiest citizens of its day, and it was certianly socialist.
Well if you think your going to be homeless a long time you might commit a small crime just so you could go to jail and at least have a roof over your head and some food. Maybe you could end up getting a job or making some money in jail so you could go on ahead with your life.
Jails and schools and libraries are all socialist-like instituations in that everything is given out according to need and in that they are used publicly, except for jails because that's more of a government-owned facility than it is a public area.

Now that you brought me to the fact jails are socialist, I think we could change that. Get arrested in Phoenix, Arizona. Sheriff Joe runs things a little different there. You pay the jail ALL of your bills. The government doesn't. And if you don't, you stay. If you can't, you ow the government all of it, and then some. You don't pay it off by the deadline, it's off to jail.
Wow that suck in if you get arrested there. If your homeless there its better to go somewhere else and get arrested >.<. It's kinda sad thought we don't really don't anything to help homeless people and the homeless people most of the time can't help themeselves.

And it is true, everything is provided in a jail, and it is therefore socialistic. But it's also a place for punishment, so I wouldn't want to model a socialist society off a jail exactly.
