Since I have joined Armorgams . . .I see a lot of Atheists and their threads about why people believe in God etc . . . I wanted to start a thread about the bible and christianity.
The purpose of this thread is to debate a different book of the bible each week. We will discuss lessons, morals, and different stories.
We will have friendly debates. Please . . . if you are atheist or of other beliefs . . . you may discuss in this thread, just PLEASE no fighting, flaming, spamming, trolling . . . etc
This week we will begin from the beginning . . . .Genesis
10% of your income as a way to essentially bribe god is really immoral.
People are not bribing God when they tithe/offer. They are simply doing what he asks of us. God cannot/will not be bribed.
"Render⦠unto God the things that are God's" (Matthew 22:21).
"And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:29).
When you don't tithe, you are robbing from God: "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me⦠in tithes and offerings" (Malachi 3:8)
"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse⦠and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it " (Malachi 3:10)
lol for the bolded "why do you bold everything?" The churches have many money and they don't give usually nothing back. I find tithing immoral it's like buying indulgentia and also the church does not need more money, I disagree with tithing and generally giving money to churches.
I'm not saying that tithing is bribing god, I think that that's how churches present it as p- that it's a way to pay some money to the holy house in return for god not doing anything disadvantageous to you.
Alt - I don't think churches think it's a way to 'bribe GOD'. Our ex-pastor was really young, probably didn't have neough experience. So he once told our church that if we gave more money by making sacrifices, then we would see miracles happen within 90 days. He had a chart for serious matters that would cost more and take more time. Then he made everyone pray about it. It was strange. No one liked it. Everyone knew what he was doing. He had spoke the last week about raising money for better music equipment. The week after, all the amplifiers and ect, were installed. He got kicked out. It was sad in a way, but a blessing also.
