Since I have joined Armorgams . . .I see a lot of Atheists and their threads about why people believe in God etc . . . I wanted to start a thread about the bible and christianity.

The purpose of this thread is to debate a different book of the bible each week. We will discuss lessons, morals, and different stories.

We will have friendly debates. Please . . . if you are atheist or of other beliefs . . . you may discuss in this thread, just PLEASE no fighting, flaming, spamming, trolling . . . etc

This week we will begin from the beginning . . . .Genesis

Yes, among others.

I don't think there is anyone who wouldn't want to try on the pope hat. Unless they are the kind that think he is the Antichrist as it would probably be the way in which Satan used to communicate with him.

What I don't get is why do some of the Christians think their better than the Jews? The Christians are a cross breed from Jews. (Just to put that Idea out there.

Well Jesus claimed to be the Messiah, The savior prophetiszed by the old testament. And Jesus was called the "king of the Jews".

Really? Christians didn't mind killing all the Jews in the Spanish Inquisition. Or in the Crusades. The early Christians saw themselves as the true Israel and their former brothers as castaways.

Kirby, do you know what the spanish inquisition is? It sure wasn't WW2. I've never heard or seen anything about jewish people from a christian really, all I ever hear about is how people think mormons are evil or something and catholic people are too strict.

The Tribulation exists only to bring the Jews back to God. He cares about them, but they must accept Christ.

* CLEAR! BBZZZAPP!!! *

(revives thread )

Any way... how literal to you take the Bible? Do you see metaphors and commentary beyond the words printed on the page? Do you really think that a Eden existed, and Eve was created through Adam's rib?

I take most of it literally, except for Revelation, which is a lot of symbolism in my opinion. I believe that Eden really did exist, but is probably at the bottom of the ocean since the Flood.

I have an idea for this topic. Let's put our Christian denomination at the bottom because some of these ideas sound like wackos (no offense) and I'd like to know their denomination.

GAH denominations. There are 1189 chapters in the protestant bible and 1187 denominations. Just 2 more and they will be equal. And half of them say that the other half of them are a deluded cult.

What parts of Revelation have a lot of symbolism? Sure I know that there is a lot that is, but there is also a lot that is pretty straight forward, especially the judgements and the messages to the seven churches.

-Nondenominational Pentecostal (The first time I heard of it I laughed about it, but then it grew on me. It would probably be most comparable to an Assembly of God church. The Pentecostal one, not the Nondemominational one. Interesting that you can have nondenominational churches that are part of a fellowship big enough to be considered a denomination.)

So your saying that the Flood took out the garden?
This kinda sounds like the lost city of Atlantis.
